meta gems (noob question)

so i've never had to get a meta gem before and i was confused. in the gem tooltip it says "requires X red/yellow/blue gems". does this mean it requires those to MAKE and when i buy/equip it i need not worry about losing gems or does it mean it requires that many of those gems to equip and i'll have to go back and get new normal gems?

sry for the noob question. i just never really knew. lol

If it says require 1 blue, 1 yellow and 1 red, you need to have those gems in total on your gear, having more however does not matter.

Yep, you can still equip the item with the meta if you don't have those colors, but you won't get the effect of the meta gem.

btw, multi-colored gems count as 1 of each listed color.
