I don't know if this has been posted already or not, but I just noticed/realized this when grinding today. For any newer players who do groups, instances, etc. with rogues, here's a tip to avoid accidentally breaking crowd control on mobs. I'm sure most of you know this, but some don't and its quite helpful.
CC is color coded.
cheap shot is a cc move that lasts its entire duration ( usually) on mobs, so you can whack away on a temporarily imobile opponent. Gouge, sap, etc. break if the opponent takes damage.
These differences are collor coded into the 'cyclone' above the target's head.
Unbelievably I just noticed this while grinding today. A blue cyclone indicates that you can attack that target without breaking the CC manuever. Purple cyclones indicate moves that will be cut short if the target is attacked.
I also noticed, and may be wrong here, that when i retooled and put points in to fill up imp. gouge, the purple cyclone grew larger in size, indicating a longer duration. At least it appeared that way to me.
Just realized this today and thought that info might help some newer players who group with rogues for instances and such from breaking cc early. CC is a great tool that is shared by many classes, and its best to familiarize yourself with them like this to take full advatage of them.
Hoped that helped some for people who did not know that.
