My other thread was closed, but I did read it. Anyway, after installing the game, and it all appearing ok. I created my account (like I'd said), went back to play the game, and the error I get is

"Your 3D accelerator card is not supported by World Of Warcraft. Please install a 3D accelerator card with dual-TMU support."

Further information - The card itself is a NVIDEA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro. My machine is fairly old. Its an AMD Athlon 1.34 GHz with 768 MB of ram. When reeling off the specs to a friend of mine (WoW addict) he said the game would possibly run sluggish, but I would cope 90% of the time. I took this on board without further ado.

And while yes it is partly my fault. I still see it as being partly Blizzards fault also as it let me install the actual game, then recommended I create my account before I can play the game. Had I tried to play the game to begin with, my account would not have been activated. and Yes I tried to get my account suspended. But that will not put a halt on the 1 month free trial AND 60 day game card I entered when creating my account. I was told in their reply email that I could only 'suspend' a subscription account. I assumed this means if I pay by debit/credit card. Once I had created my account, my days start ticking if I use the prepaid card method(apparently). Anyway, I will get over it. I have withdrawal symptoms from a game I was addicted to, but NEVER played. Work that one out :)

I apologise for the lateness of the reply, I was working today and am home now. They know better at work than to let me near the computers!

Happy playing guys.

Oh I just wanted to add...

I see your reasons in closing the other thread, but I was never here to make trouble or start 'flaming' anyone. Just wanted to vent why I was disapointed. I am sorry if anyone took my thread/s as a personal attack. I saw some were quick to 'blame' me. Well yes, it is my fault also, I can admit that.

Anyways, think I've said my bit.

There's no way a card like a TNT can ever play this game. It's near on eight years old, for a two and a half year old game. It just lacks basic standard features now, no Hardware T&L for example, very inferior fabrication technologies, and not designed to cope with the pressures of modern gaming. Always a good idea to got to a forum like this before purchase and read thier version of the "recommended hardware" thread that they should have. There's even a link to a website that uses ActiveX to diagnose your components and simply tell you if the computer is able to play X Y or Z game, or otherwise.

Unfortunately generally speaking if the card falls below the minimum specs on the game box then its best not to risk it. Taking advice from a friend although commendable wouldnt have got you a realistic answer unless he had used the same spec card as you at some point.

In honesty your best bet would have been to ask on a forum - such as this or the Blizzard official forums (good luck with any answer being helpful there though).

Something else to bear in mind, is that if you are anticipating the game to run "sluggish" in normal play, then in an area of high activity (lots of things going on or lots of people like in a main town) you can expect the game to run like a slideshow. In other words totally unplayable.

I can see your point about the game not advising you as it installed that your system fell short of the requirements. Some games do have a check during installation for this but I think its rare these days, and its a tragic circumstance that its an on line game here with payment required prior to play. Taking advantage of the free trial period would have been the best choice.

However these are all moot points I guess. Best of luck with the new machine when it arrives and you'll forget about this annoyance once you get into the game.

I'm not sure if this will help you, but you may be able to get your money back by not agreeing to the TOS.
TOS (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.html)

"IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH ALL OF THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, YOU MUST CLICK "REJECT." IF YOU REJECT THIS AGREEMENT WITHIN THIRTY (30) DAYS AFTER FIRST PURCHASING THE WORLD OF WARCRAFT SOFTWARE, YOU MAY CALL (800)757-7707 TO REQUEST A FULL REFUND OF THE PURCHASE PRICE. ONCE YOU AGREE TO THE TERMS OF USE AND THE END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT (EULA), YOU WILL NO LONGER BE ELIGIBLE FOR A REFUND."

You never agreed with the terms......right?

hello all

Agreeing to the terms of service was part of creating my account and entering my details. If I did not agree, I could not create my account to play. Yes I did. Although my first post (in the newcomers thread) was a bit along the lines of 'what a waste of money', I am over it now.

I have to wait till the 13th of July to get my new machine, so I guess I'll still have a couple of months left of play - I don't think I'll be able to put the games aside and stay mad at Blizzard forever. I was just wondering if others agreed or not and thought although it was mostly my fault, it had to be part Blizzards to. Then again I have never played a graphical game of any kind. I'm hooked to NetHack lol and you probably know there are no graphics involved there! In saying this, I don't know how these games are installed, and if they check or dont check your hardware mid installation. Well now I have learnt.

Thanks for hearing me out guys :)
