Splitting up items for trade

Say I have 5 spider meat and I want to give 3 away. How do I do this? Do I split it up in my inventory before opening the trade window?

Shift and left click the item and a box will come up. type in the number you want to split away.

the ole shift click also is nice for purchasing items. like those 20 spices you need for your cooking can also be bought in one transaction using this method.

what the others said - though yes, sometimes you need to split it up and lay it back into your bag in two seperate stacks . . . some items seem to work this way.

Definitely split it up in YOUR bag. Make sure you end up with 2 or more separate stacks. I have accidently traded off (or almost) multiple items because I hit shift-click, selected 1 item and drug to the trade window only to see the entire stack appear there.

On the other hand...I am sure this has lead to some awesome deals on the AH wher ea stack of 20 was put up for the price of 1 item by someone who did it in a hurry and didn't look afterwards. :shocked:

Sweet. I never thought to try it when buying items. I learn something new every day.
