i've downloaded mIRC..does anyone else use the site chat? I have a feeling I'm going to be all alone there....I may just hang out there by myself...waiting for people :cry:

Can anyone get on the chat for this site? it keeps coming up with errors.
no one ever use it... it kindda blows... it doesnt have the right vibe...

does this mean i'm going to have to break down and download something like msg?
does the chat even work though? I can't get it to work...I'd station there for a bit and recruit people to talk to me!

Not sure, if it would work. Never tried it to be honest. But Trillian does have an inbuilt IRC client. And it's not that hard to set up, if you follow the standard IRC protocols.

So if I download Trillion rather than Yahoo/MSN I could link into the mIRC chatroom? would it be free?

Yup, Trillian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trillian_%28software%29) is free. I used it during my ARG (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternate_reality_game) days. And you should be able to log onto the mIRC chatroom. I know that I've logged onto the Nightstar IRC channels with it. No guarantees though. Tends to be a question on how everything's set up apparently. *shrugs*

Do you think there will be a working chatroom for this site anytime in the future? I shouldn't say it's not working, it's just not working for me...
it would be nice to have a little chat place to get to know other players! (This hopefully would save your OT forum! hehehe)

Can't you ask an easier question, like what next month's winning Powerball numbers are?? :wink:
I've got no clue as to why you can't log onto the chat room, barring me trying to get my own Trillian account to hook into the chat channel here to see if it's possible, I don't have any answers for you. (And to do that will probably require some tinkering on my end, that requires time of which I don't have a lot, least not today. I wouldn't be able to do so until sometime thursday anyway, and by that time you could've figured it out yourself.)
We've kind of taken our foot of the gas with the chat room for a few months now but it's something we want to pay attention to and can now we have more people coming on to help with the site.
It only blows as you say kcma because there's no team leading it. When there were mods in there it was fine.

Hopefully, if you do put the time and energy into making it happen, that the members of the site use it! I know i certainly would, but I can only speak for myself! :)

I did for a short while, but it was filled with people who didn't even use the forums, so I must admit I kind of lost interest. I am going to give it another go, though, so you'll probably meet me and my idle behind in there.

My idle behind is in there at this very moment, and I must say it's pretty empty indeed. It's 2 AM in Europe, but still... I remember I was there a few times around the time BC came out, and it was crowded as hell in there.

Ok, took a little figuring out. They radically redesigned their IRC section since last I used it. And it took a bit figuring out how to connect to here, but...
This explains the relevant screens (http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/support/index.php?s=IRCHELP) with Trillian's IRC side.
Server Alias: aka the first bar. I called it WoWNetChat.
Location is: irc.incgamers.com (you could make it irc.incgamers.com::6667) (that location entry means, no password and access port 6667)
Nickname: In your case Tikki (unfortunately you can't have spaces in your name. yrch)
Rest is not necessary.
Once you connect select the join channel option by left clicking on the grey ball. Now type #wow
And it'll take you to the channel, which currently is even more dead than the inhabitants of Deathknell or Brill.

Then again, I seem to remember a beta key was handed out every hour to a random person in the chat channel in those days...

ok, i think the problem is - there's no location. i looked for it in the irc channels and can't find it. and when i put it in - there's an error connecting .... i appreciate all the work ou've gone to to appease the people like me who love to chat :)

The standard free client can connect to IRC. Just configure it the way I explained and it'll work.
Once you connect, then you click on the grey ball, inbetween the red yahoo one and the yellow AIM one. One of the options says join channel. Select it. You get a pop-up box asking which channel to join. Type #wow and you will enter the wow channel. Type #support and you enter the support channel. Check the status box and it'll give you an inkling as to what channels are offered.
Can't help you with work, you might be able to talk your admin into allowing you to run Trillian, and that in essence means you got MSN, Yahoo Messenger, AIM, ICQ and IRC at your dispossal. (provided you have an account with the mentioned messenger programs). As to how to convince him/her?? That's your department. :tongue:

i got it working when i got home! it's the internet at work! lol and I won't be able to get on at all...i don't think any 'chat' things are allowed :(

man i haven't used irc in a long time though. like 5 yrs or so. might have to reinstall it one day just to............. well idunno lol. but i remember it used to be THE place to find pretty much anything you were looking to download.

Reinstall it for this chatroom. We need to get it filled. I reinstalled mIRC just for that, and it's pure nostalgy. Haven't used it in 5 years either - more I think - before reinstalling.

That was because of the beta key giveout. There were huge amounts of people there, most of em were idling but the chat was still very entertaining. Sadly, most of em left after competiton, and then even more after BC came out and the numbers dwindled to what they are now. It's sad, because I really enjoyed it.
I'd love to help to re-energise it. Although it'd have to wait until monday.
