Inability to use crossbow

In the game one of my characters is a level 17 warrior..

I have purchaced a crossbow and training and It wont work.

I have a sword in my primary slot and the crossbow is next to the arrows slot.

When I press the z key the sword comes out and then the Crossbow comes out the second time I press the Z key.

Everything appears to be in its right place but the crossbow wont work. I always lead with the Sword when I attack. There is no ranged attack with the crossbow.

Any Ideas please

after you have trained for cross bow you need to open spell book and drag the shoot bow icon out of the spell book and onto a tool bar. then when your in range you should be able to click on that icon and shoot bow.

Dumb question, but its been known to happen - you have bought arrows right?

yes have arrows and as far as I know it is loaded. I tried draging a short cut of the crossbow to my action bar, from the spellbook.

The arrows are in the slot next to the crossbow but it still doesnt work when I try to activate it from the action bar.

Any more ideas please

You didn't bought different arrows when your quiver was empty did you?

Then you may have to "reload" your crossbow

Don't drag the crossbow, drag the shoot skill.

Double check what is the required level for the crossbow

1) Go to the spellbook (Press 'P'), there should be a skill there called "shoot crossbow". Drag that skill onto your action bar. Sounds like you may have dragged the crossbow skill rather than shoot skill by accident.

2) Go to the character sheet, ensure the crossbow is in your ranged slot. There should be another small box next to the crossbow that contains ammo. Drag whatever is in there out and drag a stack of arrows from your bag onto the slot.

3) Target an enemy and press the shoot button you dragged earlier.

There is no "shoot crossbow" skill in the spell book. Surely I could not purchase a crossbow and training before my level was high enough.

How do I find out what level a warrior has to be before he can use a crossbow?

Hang on there. I found a simply "Shoot" icon that looks like a bullseye. That did it. Works now.

Yes, the various Shoot skills (Shoot Bow / Shoot Crossbow / Shoot Gun) were merged together into a single action. People got confused when they had 3 different Bull's-eyes in their spellbook :smiley:

Remember: Your normal attack is also a spell called 'Attack'. You don't click on your weapon, you activate the spell. We just never notice it because ppl usually right-click the mob they want to attack and the spell takes over the icon of your main hand weapon.
