Ok, this is a bit of a rant, but humour me..
What in the bloody Nine Hells are some people thinking??
Ok, situation is as follows. I do a little tradeskilling, look at the AH, compare prices and undercut the folks who are getting too greedy with theirs. Nothing wrong with that. I'm still making a profit, someone else gets a nice item, and the one asking the nutcase prices gets to learn to make things a bit more even.
Example: 1g 10s for an Ornate Tigerseye Pendant for instance is overly excessive. They tend to sell for between 60 to 80s normally. Considering mats and their respective prices on my server however, it's doable. You make a small profit, level up your skill. Nearly everyone is happy.
Then you got some folks who just creates loads of items, flood the market and then go so low with their prices than there is no way for them to make a profit. So why the heck bother putting it on the AH then?
Example: Elegant silver ring. Costs a silver bar to make, normally silver bars go for 50s each, if you're lucky you'll come across a bargain like 2 bars for 70s.
Normally a ring costs about 60 to 70s. Again, small profit, everyone happy.
What happens???
Some chuckleface puts 10 of them up for 18s a pop.
If, it's for money, then why not sell the ore? That's 2.5g right there.
If, it's simply to tradeskill, then why not put up one ring, keep the other 9 for another day??
I mean, someone offers something for 80s, you go 78s, another goes for 74s. There's still a profit margin there.. I can at least grasp this type of behaviour..
But why flood the entire market with items and offer them at prices, which from a mat pov are just nuts? (Hillman's shoulders. Standard price is around 80s, greedy ones do 1g 30s, why put it up for 12s?
It's already the case on most servers that mats sell for more than the finished items. So, if you're dealing with a young/medium aged server, where there is still a profit margin to be gained by tradeskilling, why would you want to do this? You're just killing the market?
Rant over..
Sorry about that..
