Hi- If someone could provide me a quick response it would be very much appreciated. Regarding bidding at the ah, there is an item that I'm trying to win, but everytime I bid, someone else immediately outbids me. My question is, if I watch carefully and wait for the item time expiration to hit short, can I set my watch for exactly half an hour and bid at the 29th minute? Is the ah clock same as real time? I really dont want to lose out, but the diff between the buyout and bid is huge. Thanks in advance!

Yes, the AH clock runs in real time.

If you want an item so much, why don't you just buy it out?

the difference is about triple and would empty my account. idk, maybe I will but it would be nice to have a few gold at the end of the day.

I don't know the exact details of how this works...but something else to keep in mind:

I've seen the expiration time go from "short" back to "long" after a bidding war has taken place. I don't know how many bids have to be placed for this to happen, but I've seen it several times.

I found if someone keeps out-bidding me, it sometimes helps to wait a little bit longer (give them time to think they finally out did you and to get on a gryphon and head away to quest) before rebidding.

You could also try contacting the seller and make him/her a direct offer (better than the current bid + AH fee) if they pull it off and sell it to you now. Sometimes people will be nice enough to do that if you ask them right.

thnks anyway-in the end i paid buyout. While waiting until the last minute to bid, I noticed a bidding war with other people, so rather than lose it I jumped in and grabbed it. Guess I'm not the first to think of waiting...At least the bid and buyout ended up being much closer so I dont feel as bad.

I got curious now to what item we're talking about?

Yes, the AH clock runs in real time.

Ideally but I've noticed some discrepancies. I had one item that went short while I was watching. It went 45 minutes before the item expired with the low bid.

For me it's usually not that I want the item but I'm trying to get it below market value to resell it.

I thought to combat last minute bidding wars, Blizzard made it so each bid made the time get a little longer. I could be wrong though.

Is there an AH mod that will automatically outbid someone that bid overtop of you?

No.

There used to be something called bottomfeeder, that bought out items that came in, continually scanning the AH, but that was not looked upon with pleased eyes from Blizzard's side.

5 minutes for every bid. so theoreticaly, you could make a bidding war and push a item from "short" back to "very long" ^^
