I heared that Steven Spielberg was going to put WOW into movie.
I think that must be very cool.
If the action effcet is conspicuous with an attractive story(WOW' history has a good story:) , this movie must be cooler than transformer:) transformer is perfect though.
So, I'm looking forward to see this movie, someone knows when will it be finished?

Hm, he is doing Indy IV right now....if anybody does a WoW movie it will probaly some Udo Böll kind of director who will really mess it up. Don't get your hopes up, kiddo

*shudder* Uwe Boll isn't a director, he's a tax dodge.

I suspect you're completely delusional :) Films based on games tend to suck so hard that they develop an event horizon.

I thought the film in development was based in the Warcraft world - NOT necessarily about World of Warcraft ...

...and the world might be flat...

^^

The ONLY way I can see a WoW movie that doesn't suck is if it was computer animated and at least in the quality of the Blizzard cinematics. Otherwise your Orcs look like Lou Ferringo as Hulk...and all the fights and humans are like Xenia or Hercules. Pure TV trash.

That or twisting it into an Austin powers-style parody, with lots of jokes about respawns and how someone managed to fit that horse and massive battleaxe in a dainty little rucksack.. Remember, animation doesn't automatically become a shoe-in for "decent game/film crossover"- never seen "Final Fantasy- the spirits within"? Pretty as heck, some interesting cast members. Very little to do with the established (nonsense) plots of the games, but also not very good.

No, the only possibility I could see for something like that not being painfully inept is to send it up, get Terry Gilliam, Tim Burton or Mike Myers to go crazy (the first two would likely make something a little darker).

However, won't happen, it will be some forth rate hollywood hack director. They managed to ruin Frank Miller's astounding graphic novel/comic book stuff which is virtually in storyboard form already (so badly that he hates his names being associated with the films). Imagine what a poor job they'd do of a game (which is by definition malleable and subjective) whose "plot" is already adolescant sub-tolkeinesque drivel? WoW isn't exactly Graham Greene, to say the least..

You will find people who like anything, of course, on Your Vasty Internets, and some people also favour brand recognition over their critical faculties; if it did finally limp out of a studio, some fanbois would surely profess how much it "rocks".

Tomb Raider was pretty succesful.

I'm not really looking forward to this movie, if it ever gets there, but then again I'd definately pay to see a 90 min Blizzard cinematic.

Personally, I demand that Luc Besson make "Mariokart: the movie". Anyone who has seen "Taxi" will understand..

Tomb raider was successful because of the lead *ahem* "actress" ;)

and please no one mention Doom

Blizzard needs to do the animation and voices themselves. No hollywood what so ever.

Those little movies, althougth i know take a lot of time to make are just awesome and that way we can see the stuff the way blizzard intended.

This is not a movie that you can do live action for.. yuck! Has to be animation.

If its live action I am not going to see it.

Because, of course, expensive special effects automatically make for a good film.

You can google that sword and come up with some articles from last year where they claim Blizzard would intent to put it in the game. That is where the image that was linked here comes from, too.

oops wrong thread there Det . . .

Sorry, most movies "made" by Uwe Boll can already lay claim to that title.

And I thought Mortal Kombat 1 was a fairly decent game -> movie translation, especially considering it's not exactly the biggest budget movie out there.

Lot more faithful to the source material than most, humour at the right times, decent action. Not a great movie, but good enough to watch.

It will be interesting to see how Halo pans out btw, considering that Peter Jackson is involved in that project, even if he's not directing it.

Personally I'd rather see a Warcraft movie rather than a WoW movie, the distinction being the more developed story and characters (ok so the characters have as much development as the new WTC tower but it's still more than the game has) to draw upon. I have admit though that a sadistic side of me hopes for a WoW movie with a humorous Forsaken sidekick, like a Marvin the Paranoid Android with a severe case of leprosy.

OOO OOO Get Sam Raimi to do the film ala Evil Dead yeah babeee!!!
