My friend and I are going too start new charecters on a pvp realm(karazhan),
and I have a few noobish questions that someone might help me out with.
Firstly in a pvp realm is there nothing stopping alliance killing horde or vice versa at any time, no pvp on/off toggle like on pve realms.
Secondly are places different on pve realms?. And finally i've heard of battlegrounds but are they just places or do you have to enter them like an instance?. Any help is apereciated.
p.s How do spriests fare in pvp?

In Contested Zones you are flagged automatically. In safe zones (Your own Factions' areas) you are not flagged unless you engage in PvP or while you wait for the PvP cooldown. So while starting a new character you will be safe, for example, in the Barrens unless you flag / attack the Alliance raiding Crossroads.

The game itself remains exactly the same. The only thing is you have that sense of danger with enemy Faction members prowling around. STV, Hillsbrad, there are a few zones where you need eyes on all sides of your head.

You have to enter battlegrounds. You can do that either at the portal into them or by signing up for one in any major city.
