Been playing wow for a while, but soon to be new to TBC so I thought I'd post this here.

I bought TBC a while ago and now I'm finally ready to hit outlands but haven't actually installed TBC. Am I going to have to go through a lengthy install process from the disks and then download/install patches? Or does my computer already have the latest/greatest patches and all I need is to unlock TBC with a new key?

If you have the most current patch, then it shouldn't take that long to upgrade. If you can use the DVD ROM, do so ...it's faster ;)

You might end up running through some TBC specific patching though, I'm not sure how that would work since I installed TBS the day it came out.

I just did this recently myself. It took about an hour to install all 4 CD's and then it did need to download a bunch of new patches.

Once you install the 4 discs, you have to do all post-2.0 updates again. You can however use standalones that should bump that down to just a couple updates.

Standalones are the way to go IMO - you'll cut your updating time more than in half.

Where do you get standalones from?

I believe the ones I got when I first started playing were from filefront.

Edit: HaHa! I found the original post from me asking kind of the same thing . . .

should have links for old patch files which should help you find the new ones
