Gold Star?

I a relative nooby, lvl 13 rogue gnome, and during gameplay a big gold (or yellow) star appeared in the middle of my screen. I have no idea what it was about--it went away after about 5 minutes. It didn't seem to be clickable. Can anyone explain? Thanx,

I'm guessing that someone put a mark on you or someone right in front of you? People do it messing around (it annoys me in BG's except for when they mark the healers so that it's easier for people to see them).

If you are the leader of a BG or Group you can set marks on the enemies or people and those marks (or more properly Raid Target Icons) are designated by people to mean certain things in certain situations.

Each mark would mean something if you were in an instance / raid.

Examples:

Square = Hunter Trap
Circle - Mage Sheep
Diamond = Sap
X = second main target
Skull = main target

so they are set before you attack the next mob . . . everyone does their job and no one is confused after each does their CC then everyone focus fires on Skull then once skull mob is killed you fight the X and so on. This is the best way to instance IMO especially with PUGs so that no one is confused and that no one breaks someone elses CC.

Yeah, the first one there, upper left, that was it. I was in a group of 2 but I have no idea what it meant. I will assume it was positive, at least it wasn't a deaths head! Thanx

in BG's if some guy that thinks he's ubber is the leader you will often see them set the skull on themselves for fun and to say "I'm a badass" (death's head (skull) = kill it first because it's strong or will cause the most problems usually)- lol

Yeah so the guy you were grouped with saying that you were a star! :thumbsup:

p.s. - to set this, if you are the leader, you select the player or the mob and then right click their portait and you'll see the icons.
