Hey I'm relatively new to WOW. Since I started playing I've had Burning Crusade.

Now my question is; I've noticed blank spots or unnamed areas on my maps for both Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdom. So my question is three-fold.

1. Prior to the release of BC were there more blank spots that after the release became areas such as Moonglade and the Dark Portal?

2. Will the blank areas become new game locals when Blizz releases a new expansion?

3. Any Idea if and when a new expansion is coming out?

blank spots are places you haven't discovered yet.

3. Wait till BlizzCon

1. If by blank areas you mean areas that on the continent map you roll over and there's nothing there (for example, south of Silverpine Forest, and north of Western Plaguelands) those are undeveloped/unreleased areas. And as an FYI, Moonglade and the Dark Portal have always been there. The Dark Portal is in the Blasted Lands (Southeastern part of Eastern Kingdoms) and Moonglade is in Northern Kalimdor and has been mostly for Druids and high-end Pre-BC stuff.

2. Maybe. Maybe not.

3. Only Blizzard knows. But there is little on it and most of the "New stuff from Blizzard" is focused on Starcraft II. I wouldn't expect a new Expansion until at least 2008.

I must admit I'm fairly curious about the "blank" areas myself.

As far as I'm aware, the only new area's they've revealed are above the eastern plaguelands (the Draenei area doesn't count, it wasn't there before).

There are quite a few locations that haven't been revealed. I can't help but wonder...

(I did see someone sneak into Mount Hyjal before. I GM made him leave though...)

2. I can only hope so...

Thnaks guys. New question what was the dark portal before the BC release? Right now it's the gateway to Outland but before?

It was the gateway to Outland, you just couldn't go thru it yet.

And it was swarming with high level demons/elementals, instead of the Alliance/Horde camps that are there now.

I've wanted to go through the giant gate in the south of Silverpine since I first saw it :)

I'm particularly curious about the raid portal at the back of Darkwhisper Gorge...

Isn't that supposed to be the entrance to Mount Hyjal?

What about that spot at the back of Wetlands, behind the mountains where the dragons are? I heard it was going to be an instance (or something like that). I've always wondered what they were going to do about that, if anything...

That's Grim Batol. Another instance for another patch and/or expansion.

(the Draenei area doesn't count, it wasn't there before).
Sure about that?
I mean, there's quite a few locations in the game that are just outside the world map, such as the GM isle and the less known Designer isle, Programmer isle, and it's rumored that Northrend is still there. Not at all impossible that the Draenei area had been in-game for months before being put on the world map.

Could be, I guess, but it's on the wrong side of the zone... Also surely present-day Hyjal shouldn't require an instance portal - I mean, it's another zone on the map!

If Hyjal is part of the next expansion it will indeed require a portal to enter Hyjal.. As Blizzard wants to restrict expansion content to the one's who have the expansion..

Ghostlands/Eversong Woods is just north of Easter Plaguelands but it still requires a portal, because of the expansion.

What about that crypt underneath morgan's plot, the graveyard of karahzan? I've seen a video of someone getting in, it looks much different than any other place in the game. One place was like a whole lot of dead bodies in water with their feet pointing to the water and they were chained up. Is it going to be an instance or something?

My personal theory is that they created that area in case they ever want to expand Karazhan by adding another entrance and making a whole new instance area beneath the tower.

Anybody know anything about Uldum? The quest chain just stops dead after the "Return to Ironforge".

It's a pity, I was hoping they would reveal more than just the spot above the plaguelands.

There's a few spots on the map that haven't been revealed (can we walk there?).

What about the area under Sithilus and Un'Goro? Is this just AQ? Or is there just a bit too much room for that? My thinking is there's just a bit more room than AQ there so there should be something else.

Not to mention that area east of Burning Steppes...
Or the area between IF & SW...

The Azeroth map is inconsistent with actual terrain in many places. I try to discover all areas and make my map complete but some areas just do not reveal despite where you go in the areas. This would be due to the fact that you're not supposed to be going there I presume :)

So are there any spots in particular where you've noticed this?
