This is probably a stupid question, but where the heck can I find rough stone to lvl my engineering skill? I'm playing as an Undead Warlock, reached lvl 17, but I haven't come across any rough stone at all. My other skill is tailoring (I was advised that these were the best skills for a warlock) and I figure it must come from mining or something else.

You get rough stone when mining copper

If you're not a miner you can find it if you look long enough from object such as chests.

Click the area for the map you want to look at and look for yellow x's. Blue are for mining nodes.

Look on the auction house for who is selling copper. whisper to them that you need to purchase rough stone it is by product of mining so they should be able to sell it to you at reasonable rates. Good luck.

I even post up my rough stone, you may also want to try looking for it at the auction out, or posting in the trade channel that you'd like to purchase some :)

Noone mentioned it yet but I think I will. Leveling two crafting professions is bad for your economy. If you keep engineering, skip tailoring and take Mining instead you will find the materials needed for engineering yourself and don't have to pay for it at auction.

Alternatively keep tailoring and pick some gathering profession:

1. Herbalism/Mining. Best moneymakers there is. Does not compliment tailoring especially well, but you will make lots of cash.
2. Skinning. Makes decent cash, and there is a few tailor recipes that need skins as well as cloth.

edit: you were told they were the best professions for a warlock. They might be, but since you are a newcomer you probably don't have much cash, so I suggest you pick a gathering profession as well as outlined above.

AH is the easiest though, on my server its usually cheap. I pick up alot of it mining copper and sell for a couple silver

I agree. Dont do two crafting professioins. And dont do minining and herbalisim together. You cant use find minerals and find herbs at the same time. Skinnining and mining are the two better money makers from my experience. At around lvl 50 you can pick up a crafting profession if you want to.

Just get stone at AH for now if you still want to take up engineering.

I am pretty sure you can get stones as drops from Rock elementals as well (not sure of stone that low though)

Not really, Im pretty sure there are some in Darkshore where you have to help a professor recover his equipment. I don't think they will be much higer than 17.

I know they drop stone related items but it has been over a year since i killed one so I do not know exactly what ones drop.
