Hey and welcome to WoW
If your on Teldrassil (night elf Alliance) and he is in Echo Islands (Orcs/Trolls Horde) then I'm afraid you wont be able to interact and quest and play together as your on both opposite factions, basically Alliance = Goodies and Horde = Baddies (But that is disputed imo).
If you want to play together then I would suggest you either reroll Horde and play a Orc or Troll, or he Rerolls Alliance and play a Night Elf.
Hope that makes sense.

but him and his friend are on the same place and he is a night elf also

Welcome to WoW.
Unfortunately no Alliance player and Horde player can communicate in game to each other (you can't understand what the other is saying - no matter what race you are) unless you're talking over vent or over the phone. So they may be running around together but they can't communicate. The best bet is what others have mentiioned, and that is to delete your current character and start one on the horde side (PvP) or just create one on the horde side if you're on a PvE server.
Edit: Also fyi (Alliance) - There are boats from Kalimdor to the Eastern Kingdoms leaving Darkshore.
Summoning = (Warlocks) have a skill (with the help of 2 others) that they can instantly make you come to where they are if you're in their party.
Mages can portal to any major city on their factions side (an Alliance mage cannot port into UnderCity etc).
And, you can utilize the instance summoning stones to get a free ride, which is sometimes an easy way to get across the land.

At first I was unsure what you meant, however I now think (correct me if I am wrong) that your friend is a Night Elf who has been playing the game for a while and you now find that he is on a different land mass to you.
If that is the case, you will have to level up sufficiently to leave the island you are on or alternatively get your friend who I assume has reasonable knowledge of WOW to come to your island and escort you to where you wish to go.

not exactly
IM a night elf
and i dont want to change my person
but my friend isnt a night elf
and he is on the opposite land mass as me
so i wanted to go there so we could kinda sorta help eachother out
but he is a warlock
and his friend is a warlock
so if they found one more warlock that is willing
what do they do to summon me???

They don't.
As stated, Horde and Alliance don't mix.
Night Elves cannot be Warlocks, so it looks like your friend and his other friend are indeed Horde, if that latter chap is indeed a Lock and and Elf as well. What type of Elf would he be then? A Blood Elf.

A simple way to meet up with your friends.
type /logout
Wait 20 seconds
Click on your character
Hit delete
Type Delete
Click Blood Elf
Type "Lawladin"
Hit Enter
Hit Escape
type /w "name of friend" Hi
That simple.

It's the love that dare not speak its name...

Imagine, a Troll and a Night Elf. Afraid to make their love public to the world they retreat onto the Echo Isles. There they speak the language of love. No translation addons required.
Unfortunately, those Isles are also the target of under L10 newbies.

I think I see what the problem is.
You said echo isles, which are the islands in southern durotar, the orc and troll starting region which alliance never goes to (unless incredibly bored), when you meant to say Azuremyst Isles, which is the Dranei starting area. Since you never mentioned classes, we could only assume that your friend was an orc or a troll and of the other faction.
That, or you wanted to know how to get to the other continent, your posts were all very confusing to us since we didn't have enough details (and a wrong detail) to start with.
But, glad you found your way to your friend, hopefully you won't get lost again like that :)
