My friend in RL used to be OBSESSED with WoW, and he only had it for 3 months, maybe less...He got a xbox 360, and quit. He gave me his account, so What do you think was the first thing I did? Change the password, email address, and the recovery questions...Just in case. So, what does this account have on it?
http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Anvilmar&n=Adrianm
So, I've played on this character a couple of times, did some Battlegrounds, flew his epic, and it was all good fun. It's hard surviving in pvp, all I do is use the skills I'm supposed too;
I usually put up aspect of the hawk, Hunters mark, trueshot aura, and I'm ready to start throwing out some attack skills...What order, and which ones?
Also, some people have noticed that my armor and weapons aren't so great, so people suggest doing 5man raids to get better armor (beast lords)...I won't have any idea of what to do in the partys, how to get to the raids, and all of that...
So, do you reccomend me playing on this character, or play on one of his lvl 10 rogues or something, see what raids and instances are all about, and then go back to this character, actually knowing whats going on?
Otherwise, My realm is anvilmar, and would anyone be interested in teaching me the basics? I have brought several character up to about 10-13 before in this game, but I havent ever encountered a instance, raid, or anything in a party.
Help me out?

Buying accounts is against the Terms of Service. Your friend had no right to give you that account, and you taking it could put you at risk of losing it should Blizzard find out about it.

And this is the exact reason why people on forums intensely dislike people who buy accounts / powerlevel their characters. By playing up through the levels you get your skills, learn your skills and learn how the game works.
Just jumping in at 70 means you know jack #@$! about how things work and will be (for a while at least) a liability to everyone who played the game honestly.
My advice - take those characters you leveled on your own account assuming that is where you took the characters to 10-13 - and learn to play the game on them.

Hmmm, i guess that sounds ok. And no, I didn't buy it. He gave it to me, is that still against the rules. That would stink if anyone on these forums would report me, but i guess I kinda have it coming. I think I may just leave this account alone, buy my own, and MAYBE farm on his character a little to make some money.

Is that a question or a statement? It reads like a question, but it is missing the punctuation required to actually signal that it is a question. No matter, I will assume you intended it to be a question.
The answer to that is that I do not know. In all likelyhood it is because the terms of service are very generic, but I am not a lawyer and not even an Internet one. (WTB Law Degree - 5gp + Epixx)
In the long run you will be better off just learning to play your own character. And it's entirely possible your friend might want to come back in a few months and then you'll have your own 70 and his for the two of you to adventure with together.

Oops, lol. Sorry about my mistype. I guess if he would wan't to come back, its not like we could both be on the account at the same time, so I would have to get a new account anyway. How long do you think it would take to get around 50-70 if I play Wednesday nights, Thursday Nights, Friday in the day, Saturday in the day, and Sunday morning? This would probably be on a Rogue, so hopefully it would be faster then lets say....a paladin? Lol at the law degree, and now I totally understand why I should just start from scratch, i can't believe I even spent time on that character.

About as long as that piece of string over there is. /played varies from player to player and it depends on what they are doing. Spend a few hours in Ogrimmar yakking to your friends and /flexing? Your /played suffers. Follow a leveling guide like James' or Joanas? Much faster, but not as much fun.
Either way, bank on a few weeks at the minimum.
But again, the advice from this side of the keyboard is - play the game to have fun. Fun starts at level 1 and carries on until you give the account to a friend *cough cough*. The challenges are always appropriate to your level, the world opens up more and more as you progress through the levels.
So unless you are an experienced player leveling an alt for the guild or to get away from a guild, enjoy the journey. It's 1-70% of the fun. And apologies if I sound like a crusty old coot. It's because I am.

Lol, thanks. Where are those leveling guides located? Pvp servers are probably the best choice...but which one if I don't have any rl friends that play, and I live in the united states?

the free one is james, just go to google and search james horde leveling guide (or alliance if that is what you are leveling) and it should be one of the first ones that pops up. Joana's is nice, but it is a guide that they want you to buy. If you are real good at the internet, you might be able to get it for free, but James is already free and open to the public, so I'd suggest checking that out first.
For servers, I'd say pick one that has a well established economy (meaning the server is at least 8 months old and the prices aren't super crazy), with a good horde alliance ratio (last thing you want on a pvp server is to get on one where there are 10 alliance to every 1 horde, at least not if you plan on rolling horde), and once you found that, find a casual guild with lots of low to medium levels in it so you will have plenty of people to quest and instance with, and can have a much easier time making new friends in game. Also, if you are into pvp, might be worth checking out the battlegroup forums for the realm you are thinking about, and asking them what the competetion and queue times are like for that battlegroup, would be a shame to level a character up and then find out that you have to wait an hour to warsong, only to lose 95% of the games.

I am afraid to link to it. The moderators here are strict in enforcing their linking policy and cannot tell us which sites are allowed or not allowed. So you will be left to your own devices in finding them. I will however offer you what assistance I can, most magnanimous, don't you say?
Joanna's one is pay to use. Google it. James' is free. Again, that ubiquitous search engine is an invaluable tool. Enter "James Alliance Leveling Guide" as your search string. You can't miss it. If you should be daring enough to join the mighty legions of the Horde, enter "James Horde Leveling Guide" as your search string. Again, it should be nigh on unmissable.
Be warned though - they are a rote formula. You will not fully experience the full bounty of Azeroth with all it's peculiarities and distractingly interesting side quests. They tend to transform a glorious journey into the equivalent of a day job as you follow pedantic instructions in your quest for just another level.
But, that depends on what marrow you intend to suck out of Azeroth's bones, so to speak. If your goal is to hit level 70 as quickly as possible without a fine taste for the journey, they will suit your palate.
Oh. They start from level 30 so you will have to slog through 30 levels all on your own. Although Honshu has a 20-30 guide for Horde on the same site as James.
Which PvP server? Check the realm forums. You will get a general idea of which one has the least amount of people wearing their fundamental orifices as hats. Note, you will never find a zero sum of those. All realms carry them to a greater or lesser degrees. I personally prefer RP/PvP servers. It's quiet. (Just play a deaf/mute RP) There are no queues. And you get all the PvP you can stomach. And grow a hairy chest / thick skin / immunity to childish diseases to boot. It's good for you.
Edited to say - just do what thedirty suggested for a realm. He sounds intelligent.

One small correction, the horde one starts at 20 or 21, and Honshu's guide is to the barrens, which starts at 12 I believe. If you have the expansion though, I'd suggest leveling in the ghostlands (blood elve's 10-20+ zone), from what I have heard, much faster leveling, alot more quests, and alot less running around.

Let me put it into another perspective. If, your friend drives a lease car, and then proceeds to give you said car. Is said car then yours, or does it still belong to the lease company?
That's your answer right there.
And yup, we don't like advertising links much. See the forum rules (http://forums.worldofwar.net/rules) as to a slightly more exact description as to what makes us Mods grouchy.

I've seen Jame's guide... very nice, but all he really does is to list out the infor you need in one very easy to follow guide. The key point to levelling fast is to plan out your questing so that you don't end up running to quest 1, then turn it in, then back out to quest 2, then turn in, etc. Jame list the quests out and marks them on a map and arranges them in a loop so that you do a lot of quests, end up near the turnin spots and then do the turnins more or less all at once.
If you haul a$$, 12-3 days played will get you to 60, 20 to 70. If you're more leisurely and explore a bit, quest with friends some, add 5-10 days on to that. That's on a PvE server... a PvP server will add some lost time to ganking. And, of course, if you spend time PvPing in the BGs, etc that will add levelling time. My recco? Take your time, have fun, see the world, PvP if you wanna... there's no way to 'win' anyway....

If you think you may hurt the fellow players and your own reputation because of your inexperience I recommend starting a new Hunter from scratch and play with that untill you get a hang of the basics. Hold on to L19 for a but so you can get into some Battleground action.
Once you feel comfortable in your own hunter switch back and find a world of difference .
Also helps to read up as much as you can on
- your abilities and what they do and don't do (Concussive Shot, Freeze Trap vs Frost Trap, Feign Death, ...)
- tactics (jumpshots, kiting, chain-trapping, pet-pulling)
- pets (dps pets, tank pets, magic res-pets, ...)
I have a L20 Hunter myself but I read a LOT on the Hunter forum here AND on http://www.wowwiki.com/Hunter and when my wife's L49 Hunter was in an instance-group and she had to go I succesfully jumped in and finished the instance. In my opinion I even did better than her .

It's also the subject of massive spamming syndication, and I would not suggest urinating on it, if it were on fire. It has been spammed over these very forums many times. Murky.

Does this indicate that the aforementioned guide is so poor that it is not worthy? I will confess, I have not read it myself nor have I dabbled in the art of playing a Hunter, so my opinion on the matter would be based entirely off what I have read.

67 words. The only capitalization is for the Burning Crusade. The only punctuation an apostrophe and the fullstop at the end of the sentence. Depending on your audience you should potentially aim at crafting a sentence consisting of fewer words. It makes your work more readable and understandable. Scott Adams wrote a fairly insightful piece on writing for your audience. You can find it here (http://dilbertblog.typepad.com/the_dilbert_blog/2007/06/the_day_you_bec.html). It is a short piece based on what he learned during a business writing course.
As to the main point. A moderator has come here to indicate that account gifts, trades and sales are not desirable. They are a breach of the Terms of Service, despite your protestations.
Do not advocate breaking of the rules. That way lies only madness and a society based on chaos.

Well now - it doesn't really matter what you THINK as what you THINK has very little bearing on what IS.
Blizz says you may not trade, sell, give away your account and that is pretty much the end of it. Trying to convince someone else to play? They give you 2 guest passes with the CD's. Done playing? Then you are done playing and your account returns to Blizzard.
I know this - if someone had given me an account and I poured my heart and soul into a character on said account and then Blizzard came along and banned the account because I was not the original account holder I would just be sick.
Why mess with it? Get your own account and adhere to the rules.
As the mod said you do not OWN the account - Blizzard does. All you are paying for is an access pass to their game for 30 days at a time. You sign an electronic agreement that you will be the only user of the account.
So if your brother works at McDonalds do you think it's ok if your brother sneaks you in the back door and lets you eat for free too?
The car lease analogy is much better but I hope you get the idea.

You may think that he did nothing wrong, but your opinion and blizzards differ. And since it's their games and they set the rules, I am going to have to say that they overrule you here. You gotta agree to their terms to play the game, and if you break them, they can take your account and there wouldn't be a thing you could do about it.
EDIT: I really should start reading the rest of threads before I start replying to posts, lol.
