View Full Version : Banned by Chuck Norris

I'm PISSED!!! :banghead: I got banned from WoW Public Test Realm all because i told a ****ing harmless Chuck Norris joke. The Joke was, and i quote:

"Chuck Norris has never
looked a baby in the eyes cause it might him cry but if he does it also makes
him want to punch a baby."

The Reason for getting banned?:

Harassment Policy Violation - Extreme Sexuality/Violence
This category includes both clear and masked language which:
* Refer to extreme and/or violent sexual acts
* Refer to extremely violent real life actions

Ok What the hell is sexual about punching a baby. And second, when the hell did Chuck Norris punch a baby in real life. I mean c'mon after I started to say a joke (it was on the General channel where I was posting) everyone else started to say even nastier ones about Chuck Norris eating a "Filet O' Baby".

Blizzard has really gotten strict on their policys and it annoys the **** out of me. at LEAST they could have given me a warning but no. *sigh* Story of my life....

Wintrow
20-08-2007, 10:30 AM
It's a reference to the real life action of punching a baby. It doesn't have to have happened already.

If you'd have said that Chuck Norris wants to cast a Fireball on it that would've diminished the severity, but still: avoid referencing to violent acts on babies. Funnily enough: It's not Chuck Norris that got you banned, it was the baby . And righteously so IMO.

* Refer to extremely violent real life actions

That's the problem.

"Chuck Norris has never
looked a baby in the eyes cause it might him cry but if he does it also makes
him want to punch a baby."

This statement definitely references to extremely violent real life action. You should had just said Conflagrate or Pyroblast the baby.

Wintrow
20-08-2007, 10:46 AM
I might've not objected to the "Pyroblast the baby", but there is no cell in my body who doubts whether a mother would vehemotely protest that statement.

Babies are dangerous, stay clear... Even Chuck Norris (http://www.chucknorrisfacts.com/) does, even High Overlord Saurfang (http://www.wowwiki.com/Saurfang_facts) does.

Pick puppies, pick kittens, pick the fluffy fuzzywuzzy bears, but for Thrall's sake no babies, infants, toddlers or even regular (as in, over 6 yrs old) children.

it was not only not funny, it was also in poor english. Oh, and it was a chuck norris joke. The fact that it was a chuck norris joke alone should get you permanantly banned. Even more so cause you spammed a general channel whit your crap. And if this is "the story of your life", you may wanna start thinking before you say something / write something / do something. In fact, thinking is generaly a good concept.

I think the real reason you got banned was for telling a poorly thought out joke that barely makes any sense and isn't worth the time to type, let alone read and try to figure out what the heck you are talking about.

The fact that you got banned after that 'joke' is absolutely no suprise to me. Violence on babies typically induces this kind of reaction. Plus the whole "Chuck Norris" thing is probably lumped under spamming too. We really don't need 10,000 drones going around telling endless reptitive jokes. Just like we don't need someone to shout Leeroy every half an hour, or to start making puns about the blood elf mount name in IF chat channel.

That's right, and upon proposal of that name this forum was hit with all forms of jabs on the popular adopted shortname of the name. True it's rare enough these days to hear them, but I'll still not forget it for a while longer at least.

All hail the lack of tolerance for worn out puns though.

the most amusing part of this all..
last night I was on eu-ptr, and as usual the /2 city channels were full of kids spouting insults & cussing & dishing out racism & whatnot...

and one of the idiots claimed that "it's ok, we're on ptr, nobody cares about reports there".

OP = proof that they are all wrong, blizz _does_ care about reports about profanity & slurs & bad behavior.

unfortunately, it's a full time job to report all the spamming there... /sigh

honestly, my guess... the GM has a new baby and is hypersensative. As far as spam, you would have made my ignor list if you did that more than once.

Some punks in my guild were telling crude jokes with sexual reference to 8 year old girls the other day... my daughter being age 7, I didn't find them funny. Rather than complain up the guild chain of command, I think I'll just report them next time. Do you use the spam report feature, or other means for such?

Thanks,
Barry

Personally I don't mind the Chuck Norris jokes as I still come across ones that I haven't read yet. Obviously the ill-conceived ones as in the OP strike a very different nerve.

I'd like to off-set said poor attempt at a Chuck Norris joke with the following found on http://www.chucknorrisfacts.com/ that I DO find amusing:

When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.

Wake up and smell the cawfee, dear flowers :)

Horde has always had its idiot peensters, mostly rogues called "Ipwnjoo" and similar. There are the eejits who make legolas clones/hawt nelfs in slutty garments, and the eejits who want to be a skerry zombie munster, they are no different. Both spend all their time spamming "OMG FFS!" and blundering into things. Bane of my life while PvPing as horde.

Of course, the ones I feel sorry for are the ones who rolled toons in those categories because they did the research, chose the racials carefully, liked the class etc. However, one reason why my hordie doesn't get played as much as it should it the utter skull-crushing idiocy that I find so depressing; it really does exist on both sides of the fence.

Twoflower

sure it does, moopy. i never claimed that horde was idiot free ^^

but i think pre BC, it was quite clear that horde had less idiots. The onesided PuG-BG results that indicate that horde had more people that care about tactic or teamplay are one sign for me. This is of course a huge generalisation, but that s the feeling i got pre BC.

3. Blizzard was just in their reasoning.

I dunno, I never felt horde were better organised, more grown-up or more intelligent. I just felt like Alliance got so used to losing that they went into the BGs expecting to lose, and the horde expected to ROFLstomp them. There's a reason why I spent a lot of pre-BC time in a premade with my hordie, to insulate me from the screaming, spamming foul-mouthed stupidity and toothache-inducingly mindless playstyle of the average horde PUG.

The rare occasion where Alliance grew big enough cojones, they could actually win- just most of the time they spent all their time (for example) zerging around farm/stables or fighting in the middle of WSG while spamming "let them win!". Damn them, they could win, if they could only (cue the stirring music) believe in themselves a bit. Maybe they just think the horde are a bit skerry and evul-looking and make them wet themselves... :)

The only thing that bugs me is this guy gets banned for a Chuck Norris joke and yet all the sexually repressed kiddies spamming the trade channel in SW last week with profanity and vulgar MOM jokes are still there.

Someone made the mistake of saying in chat that they had reported one of them and all the kiddies promptly "reported" that person for reporting someone if that makes any sense... and then coninued with their tirade. I don't know what it is supposed to take to reign in this kind of behaviour.

It was extremely vulgar and if I had kids old enough to play they would be perma-banned from ever playing WOW because I wouldn't want them exposed to it. Heck - I don't want to be exposed to it.

If the kiddies prove to be a pain, report them. Don't tell them you're reporting them, just do it and move on. That's what I do anyway.

At the very least they'll get placed on the special ignore list associated with the report spam option, which doesn't count against your own list, so you end up blissfully unaware of their actions.

I think, and this is just me, that alot of these younger people who play have to hold quite alot in. They have to try to keep themselves composed at school, or whatever the situation may be, and think that since noone really knows who they are it gives them the right to let loose. I personally would rather endure a few chuck noriss jokes ( some I still find funny) and a few explitives in the WoW realm, where I can just ignore it all together(not too hard to just go about your business and ignore chat box), than in RL where I have to end up physically shutting them up, and facing real life consequences becuase I couldn't put up with someone's ignorance. If it keeps them civil and controlled in RL, then for the most part let them run their mouth in their fanatsy world. Unless like someone posted, they're making rude comments directed toward young children. Most kids that do those things are usually talking to kids the same age who share the same mentality, so ignore the monkies and let them throw crap at one another.

Yup. Fairly simple really. You make a report on someone by way of the report spam option and they go on an ignore list. As long as they remain online, you will not see any of their messages. If, you were to log off, go do some stuff on an alt and then come back to your previous character, then you'd see their malarky again, because the special lists are character bound.

If, a report went onto your own permanent ignore list, then they would've remained out of your sight, even if you had logged back in. In addition, they log off and then log back in, then they're back again as well.

Spamming "reported!" is just as annoying- compose a coherent GM ticket, mentioning name, channel details and server time, describing the offense. Send the ticket, put the offender on ignore, and be on your way. Of course if you get in the face of a spamming antisocial idiot, they're going to thrash mewl and puke at you- just don't feed the trolls.

I find this method to be somewhat reliable, and has (as far as I can tell) lead to the banning of idiots from the servers I play on. GMs are overworked, so a concise, clear report helps them, as does being polite and to the point when they contact you.

Don't get into direct arguments with the idiots. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Still delighted the Chuckspammer got banned though :)

If there's one thing I hate about the ignore function, it is the limit. What with the number of....well....you know who, that limit is not going to be enough. Blizzard should just remove the limit.

But chances are, half the server would be in the ignore list.
