View Full Version : Lagbears chewing the armory!

I wanted to check the stats on my shammy (after changing shoulders) for some number crunching, and I notice that the armory is showing "last updated: 19 August 2007". I deliberately logged out with no buffs up and healing gear on, but I'm foiled :-) Wrong shoulders and a load of buffs on, boo hoo.
When did it go back to not updating so often? Until recently, it seemed like it updated as soon as you log out.

I just checked my rogue and she was last updated on the 15th and my hunter the 11th.
Curse those Lagbears.

Aye, curse them indeed! On mine, my shammy actually has Blood Pact too, which is deeply daft- and is wearing a few items of stam gear, and so has over 10k health.. All of my noodling around with figures will become null and void..
Edit:
I also notice that in the upgrade finder FAQ (http://armory.wow-europe.com/faq-item-info-recommended.xml) it says:
Can I find upgrades for different gear sets, by switching gear and logging out?
Yes, this is encouraged.
So I guess something is a little b0rked/throttled back/failing to scale in Blizzland :)

I just want that damned armoury page to not be so horribly resource intensive & *s*l*o*w*.

Is this something related to the EU side? I'm here in the US and mine udpates almost instantly after I log off.

The smell of burning gnomes, rather than the more pleasant kinds of victory.

It's weird, I thought the armory just checked the char database, but it's a appearantly copied data.

It makes sense to use a copy, since all those web-queries could seriously lag out the game-servers. But even then you can do a "daily restore of backups" and at least have a decent up to date system.
My guess is that they are trying to let the server update your armory database -data when you are logging off, but there are some connection issues going from the wow-server to the armory-server.
I could be horribly wrong off course.

Ah well, the powers that be will sort it out soon but its damned annoying when you want to check/compare your gear. A bit blizzarre to say the least eh Moopy?

My shammy has now caught up with yesterday's gear changes, more or less.. So it's still updating, it's just that the lagbears are stopping it from being as immediate as blizz expect it to be.

Mine is updating regularly, but I notice now that no items (for _any_ char) are showing the gems that are socketed :(

It worked, bless you! My shammy is now visible on the armory in all her healy glory, as soon as I log out. I should have remembered to drop a totem so she was at her self-buffed 1805 +heal for appearances really :-)

Yes amgyn, we do indeed have such a tool at WoWDigger.com (http://wowdigger.com/). Provided you have installed the client, your character is updated the moment you upload your data, and you can try out any item, for example new armor or weapons, to see how your stats work out using the Wishlist facility.
As an additional bonus, WoWDigger.com (http://wowdigger.com/) is also an ad-free site
