I was banned for repeatdately killing a guild member

I was banned yesterday for killing another guild member, who's brother isn the moderator of the particular server that i was on, that i stumbled upon, but forgot to write down the name of it.

i am very sad, cos i had some friends on there.

can any1 help me?

Sounds like it was a private server. We don't talk about those here. But at least you suffered for your violation of the software's EULA by using it to connect to a private server. I have no pity for your plight.

Perhaps you might learn that corpse camping and repeatedly ganking someone is probably not a very friendly thing to do as well.

That's strange. It it were a legitimate server, how come you could kill guild members? You can't kill guild members or anyone on your own faction on a legitimate server. And Blizzard servers don't have individual moderators, there are GMs that shift between several servers as complaints come in.

What you did was a bannable offence. You shouldn't repeatedly beat up other players, it's considered harrassment and as such is something a GM can dish out punishment for.

Oh you can kill guildies in blizz operated servers. It called free for all pvp in gurubashi arena. :)

you know, like you click diablo2, the executable file, you know?

then you play that, and then you can click on the world of warcraft executable file and play that as well.

i play both games.

and i do have a clue about wow.

and this was a pvp server.

so what are your *good* opinions about this very touchy subject?

maybe instead of laughing at me cos i am sorta n00bish, maybe you can give me some good advice to follow with.

Well ok, how did you kill a guildie? Was it one of those alliance/horde guilds on a pvp server full of...well where you have an ally and horde side with same guild name? Or were you in the arena where you have free for all pvp and can kill alliance? Or were you somehow manipulating game mechanics to do it, thereby vioolating tos and such?
If you want opinions on if said banning was justifiable or not, you need to provide alot more details.
I know corpse camping is supposed to be illegal, but its never stopped horde from doing it to me, and to a certain extent, maybe 10 minutes or so, I can see staying around to gank one more time, I'll give them that. If you were there ganking on rez for like a half hour or better, yeah you should get in trouble for that kind of camping. It's all in the details as to whether or not it was just, but on a non private (read illegal) server, only blizz itself can ban you, not a gm or mod.

If you are sure that this is WoW you are talking about, and sure that it isn't a private server, then I am sure that you have lost your mind.

In wow on the realms, you can't kill a fellow guildie (unless you are in gurubashi arena and not in a party), and the servers are not run by any one person, they are run by blizzard and gm's solve the disputes (over several different servers), and I'd think blizzard would have something in place to prevent family members from playing on the servers that said gm's run so as to prevent favoritism and whatnot.

So basically, something about your story isn't true, we all think it is the private server part personally, because that would make the most sense.

That said, since you want advice so bad, don't grief other players, especially ones that are in the same guild as you. Otherwise, karma will come around and bite you in the butt, like it did this time. Hopefully you will have learned a life lesson from this episode.

Story's not adding up. And as far as I know, there are no servers moderators, and if there were personal issues wouldn't give them right to ban. They'd lose their jobs.

It's sounding like he's on a private server and either doesn't know it or doesn't want to tell us 'cause he knows we won't help.

And OP, if you got banned from a legit server, we can't help anyway. The only way to get back on WoW in that case is to break to ToU, which we don't support here.

Ok, so we've established that the OP was either using a private server (knowingly or not), or is very confused about who he killed and who banned him. As it has been pointed out, you can't kill a guildie except under special circumstances, and Blizzard does not normally ban a player because of such things. If he was banned by the victim's brother, it is very likely to be a private server, and we don't talk about them here :tongue:
Either way, I think we've covered all the possibilities (like, is he actually playing WoW??), and the OP hasn't provided any more information since yesterday morning, so we'll end this one here :thumbsup:
