An interview with tigole in germany gave the following info.

1. There will be a new "Old Stratholme" instance in the Caverns of Time, which will be a level 80 5-man: Warcraft 3 players however know Stratholme from a singleplayer mission, in which Arthas travels to the city and sets all buildings on fire, kills the citizens and fights Mal'Ganis. In Wrath of the Lich King you fight at Prince Arthas' side, by travelling through the Caverns of Time. We are giving you the opportunity of meeting Arthas at a time at which he was not a great villain yet. You are "cleaning" Stratholme and igniting buildings!

2.Apparently you won't need level 80 after all to get a Death Knight, as this would just create an even more intense rush to 80, and people wouldn't be properly enjoying the content. Instead the required level might be 55–60. Additionally, Tigole said upon reaching the required level, "Then you create your Death Knight and face some challenges. If you have mastered them, you will get your Death Knight." This implies to me that the unlocking quests will not be done on your main, but on your new DK, and they need to be completed in order to take the new character any farther.

3.Future hero classes could be Demon Hunter, Arch Mage, and Blademaster. However, they seem to be sticking with the "one hero class in WotLK, maybe more later" mentality.

Sounds pretty cool!

IMO: It would be cool if both the Horde and the Alliance could actual perform a 5 man raid on the major cities through the caverns of time without any PvP concerns - just the actual guards etc.. in the cities. All the while defeating the boses in the cities. Add in a few other cities to make it that much cooler, the ones that have been beaten down to a pulp.

Imagine for the Allience running through Undercity as an instance?

So if you only have to be 60 to unlock a death knight, their gonna have loads of 70's doing the quest chain, and thats not borked how?

I can only assume you weren't playing, or were not high enough level to be in Outland right at TBC launch then. Most of the players on the servers had at least one lv 60*, and they were splitting their time between their new belf/squidface and charging through the HFP quests. It already happened, the (imaginary) world didn't end.

*Something Blizzard is aware of, which is why the balance of effort in the game is long term playability, as the bulk of the player base has at least one toon at the level cap, according to their own figures.

Maybe you create the character that is going to be the DK and THAT character, the "DK-wannabe" does the quests and on completing them becomes a full DK?

I think we'll see that the char must be a certain level to accept portions of the quest.

This would stagger the questline to individuals at different points of the leveling process.

No it likely meant that when you make the DK you need to do some things in order to open up more options for the class.

It seems unlikely, but that would be the preferred solution, I believe and closer aligned to what a Heroic class should be.

He specifically said no to that in the interview :p The translation just seems bad in some areas.

buffed: But the newly created level 55 to 60 character will not become a Death Knight, or will it?
Jeff: No, the old character stays. You just get an additional one. You know, many players give their characters names related to their class. There are many names specific to Druids...
