View Full Version : Adding to "possible new classes" idea and a race

I've been reading up on the "I wish this and that" ideas of WoW bringing new classes and races to the game.
I think my ideas are new and could be viable.
New Race:
The Vampire Most likely Horde
Racial abilities (obvious):
Drain Plasma (for those MMOPG nerfers). Now the cool thing about this racial, is that it would depend on your class. Meaning for a Warrior, it would replenish 2/3 health and increase 1/3 rage % gain. For a energy type class, instead of rage, it would be energy and the same for mana users.
At a certain level, the vampire racial could take on different forms had they become a "Druid" character like a mean looking Wolf instead of Cat/lion etc...
So much you can do with a Vampire race.
New Class: The Monk
As many have mentioned... the Monk.
I believe the Monk would only work if he could only use "fist and throwing" weapons. (Blizzard would have to create a lot of fist/new weapons).
The fighting style of the Monk would be energy based like the Rogue or Cat form. Or you can incorporate Mana for a healing type/fighting Monk. But I'll keep to an energy style for my example.
Reason for the energy is that there is only really one other class that uses energy, so why not have an equal.
Essentially the Monk could perform "knockouts" during combat, perform Holds or submissions while the mob cannot move or act, however nether could the monk (CC usage). Now for ability use, the Monk would be inclined to be a "counter attack specialist" and to dodge.
Essentially the Monk could only ware Cloth. Yes Cloth. Where instead of using shields to block or parrying with 1h or 2h weapons, the Monk would excel in counter attacking on "chance of hit" or to dodge. With obvious abilities to increase health, energy, agility, strenght and so on, this would make for a very interesting character.
An expert at dealing damage, however when ganked = no chance. Instead of stealthing/running why not create a better jumping %. "Jump away from the mob" or to "jump up onto higher ground".
This would actually make sense to all those cloth items with a +agil and +str on them!!!
Let me know what you think.

No offense but both of those dream classes could be a name for a certain type of build for a Priest. I do call Shadow Priests occasionally Vampires and Affliction Warlocks, Necromancers or Death Eaters (Harry Potter fan).

One is only a race being the Vampire with only mentioning racial talents and the "if a Vampire Druid = new shape changes/forms". Blizzard could create a vast storyline following up on the Vampire realm. Just think of the endless "writter's cramp" within this alone.
The Monk would be a new concpet class I do believe.

Oh sorry I thought you meant Vampire as a class. I didn't read the part that said race. I just assumed. Well to even it out then you would have to make a 2nd race to even out both sides. But wrap your mind around this, instead of having the Vampire as a race, have it as a sub race which could be available to all races, well maybe not the undead and to even it out, the draenei. You would do a quest that would put "vampire blood" in your character's veins. It would give your race pale skin and red eyes. And whatever class you are, it would benefit it some way. Like if your a Mage, your mana would increase a great deal. A Warrior, your attack power would increase. A hunter perhaps be a lot faster. A rogue would be undetectable by say the Stormwind guards. Now I got this idea from a game called Morrowind. But I wouldn't add things from that game like daylight will kill you or fire damage will hurt you 75% more. Maybe that any npc paladins or priests will attack you on sight, because they see you as an Abomination. Perhaps this could even spark a 3rd faction. A vampire faction where as long your a vampire. say a vampiric human, you can talk to a vampiric orc. Even trade with them.

Ah! Yes I see your point, however blizzard could always nerf it down.
You realise new races must always be linked to the warcraft storyline? Vampires have never been mentioned therefore will never be implemented. Pandaren would be cool though.
As for the monk idea...I find it possible and pretty interesting. But naming it monk won't work because then we would have to call nuns if players roll a female of the class.
Monks/nuns sound dumb anyway.

Pandaren would be cool though.Agreed, I would have loved it if this was the new Alliance race in TBC (which was a possibility back in the days). But hey, now I love Draenei as well.As for the monk idea...I find it possible and pretty interesting. But naming it monk won't work because then we would have to call nuns if players roll a female of the class.
Monks/nuns sound dumb anyway.Well, first of all, numerous RPG's released prior to WoW prove that a female Monk is definately a possibility and is still called "a female Monk" and never a nun. Technically a female priest would have to be called priestess then as well, and we all see "female priest" works perfectly. So, I don't see a problem with "female monk".
What I do have against Monks being introduced to WoW, is exactly what I kind of mentioned already with my reference to numerous RPG's released prior to WoW. They are not original anymore. Granted, a mage, a warlock, a warrior, none of those are really original as well, but I for one would be very disappointed if they would announce a new class in an upcoming expansion and if it turns out it's just a cloth version of the rogue. Or any other existing class, for that matter.
And vampires? No, I don't see that happen either.

To put it bluntly: I can't see Blizzard making any new Races or regular (IE: nothing that follows the Hero-Class format) classes, mainly because no one wants to do ANOTHER level Grind.
Most people accepted the 1-70 grind because both Shammies and Paladins add something to the raid, so Alliance wanted Shammies in their raids, and Horde wanted Paladins, so people gritted their teeth and went through with it.
If Blizzy wanted to add something that would require one starting back at level 1 (IE: New Race/Class) they would REALLY have to add something. A new race with the current classes wouldn't cut it. Sure, people would make an alt out of it, but noone would make it a brand new main to go for the long haul in. A lot of people where distraught over the 1-70 grind in TBC even, but they bit the bullet and went with it because Paladins and Shammies for the Horde and Alliance respectivly was something worthwhile.
If what I've read about the Hero Class set up is true, in which you start out as a higher-level (like 60 or 70) that's favorable in the eyes of the players as they don't have to go back to Northshire or Valley of Trials and go through the whole grind again.
A new "base class" (like Monk or something) would REALLY have to have something spectacular to it (aside from another Rogue, and Fist Weapon/unarmed extrodinare) with an added emphasis on REALLY in order to make people go back to level 1 at this point.
I stand firm on my belief of new Races and new Classes: No need for either, and at this point it's just plain out inconvienient.
Agreed, I would have loved it if this was the new Alliance race in TBC (which was a possibility back in the days). Quoted for Truth.
Apart from Runescape, I can't think of one Medium to Big name RPG that does NOT use Monks. (I say Runescape as it is a slight exception as it has a different system of how you fight and such) It's as widespread as the Warrior, but what other word would you use for the standard issue tankie/punching bag of the game? If Blizzard used "Knight" it would be an endless nightmare (no pun intended) of "Y CANT THE NIGHTZ ATTACK FROM MOUNTZ???????" which as far as I know, Blizzard is, has been, and probably will be pretty adamant about "No attacking from mounts".
For Monk, there would REALLY have to be something other then a "Cloth wearing Rogue" for it to pass.
And the Vampire? I have to agree: No relation whatsoever to the Lore.

What about an Emokid class?
They could all run around crying about life.
Then you could get oodles of honour for slapping the little sh*tes..

I vote for a class Necromancer in Diablo-style.
A magic-weilding class, having a golem as a pet.
As skills it should at least have curses and the usual damagedealing, and some cool things like corps explosion. Perhaps revive some slain enemies as extra pets, if performance of the game permits.
What do you guys think?

Sigh, this urge to make useless suggestions must be deep in the human psyche or something.. I still vote that we have a giant invulnerable flying ninja pirate robot with lasers for eyes and a magnetic ass..
Consider, please, for a moment.. the headache involved in balancing the existing classes against each other. Consider how long blizz are taking over any putative hero classes (and have only announced one with sketchy details). Consider the near-impossibility of keeping things almost balanced for arenas and PvE. Now explain why you should have a vampire class, a racing driver class or anything else. Each class is designed carefully to have complimentary abilities which mesh with others- even within a role. Different tanking classes compliment each other, ditto different healing and DPS classes. You don't just slap a new class on willy-nilly, it seems. It's an exponential increase in stuff to consider (that's a technical term, hope you like it).
That said, the Emo kid class is good. Maybe license some Avenged Sevenfold or something too. It's not like it would need to be balanced against any other class, as they'd mostly stay in their starter area, which would have more corners (to cry in) than any other area that blizz has ever built :-)

how can vampire be its own race? vampires are basically an offshoot of humans...
i dont really care if its a racial, class or just a purchase off a vendor but i think it would be sweet if you could do something to communicate with the opposing faction...
maybe spend some money on schooling or something

of course /sob command would be a hotkey...
and /whinge /whine /cry /grizzle.
On anothe note, I also think that once a character has been active for more than 3 years you automatically convert class to OAP.
Your stats crumble, your movement speed halves, all your gold converts to coppers that you have to count out individually and you lose all your keys.
On the flip side you get 'dribble of the old' which means when you try to chat in your chat box all other players fall asleep in a 10 yard radius AND you get 'Loosness of bowel' in your incontinence Talent tree. This ability causes fear on all humaniods around you and has a varied cooldown depending on what you've eaten.
Also... If you are a hunter your pet becomes a budgie.

hmmm...I doubt it would happen, but I will say to be a vampire would be cool..."I vant to suck yo bloooood!!!" ....it would be hard though...your playing time would be cut in half since you'd only be able to play when it was night. Can you imagine, priest could sell/make holy water...garlic could be gathered and sold at the AH to put on as an enchant.
It's certainly fun to think about the new races and classes that Blizzard could include. Sadly though, not knowing what it actually takes to put them into place, we're probably suggesting unrealistic goals.

You'd have to think about how an idea balances against everything else. From my pount of view Blizzard has done a great job of making such an intricate game be playable and enjoyable. Certainly there are odd things here and there but that's only expected for something so complex.

You know, what is scary about this is the following line "you must chop down every tree in the forest with...A Herring!!"
And then you go and kill the 2 level 40-ish undead guys along the road, just past Darkshire. They are at an old tower. And what does one of them drop? A FISH that you can equip! I have no idea what it does but you can carry it in either hand. :)
