Now believe me when I say I'm not trying to turn WoW into runescape. I just thought this idea would be nice. I know this profession would make WoW more like runescape but I'm just trying to make life on WoW easier. How bout' a Lumberjack profession? Instead of having to buy fire wood to make a fire, all you have to do is have an axe and cut down a tree. Now these trees would be different from the trees you normally see. Like with plants in herbalism. Better types of trees would burn longer.

Taking a flight all the way out to log some wood and light them is more convenient then just purchasing them at the vendor? Besides, longer burning fires is zero motivation to even take up and train that profession. There must be some fun (like engineering) or profit in it. All that sounds like a hassle to me.

More to the point, would you ever get that song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zey8567bcg) out of your head?

Thanks Moopy, "I cut down trees, I wear high....."

No. Stop that. And now for something completely different.

Yay, the Lumberjack song rules! "I cut down trees, I wear high heels, suspenders and a bra!" "He cuts down trees, he wears high heels... suspenders... and a bra?"

To the topic at hand, check this thread (http://wow.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=386006&highlight=woodcarving). Basically it's the same idea, only a little more elaborated. You would be able to do more with wood than just making campfires. For instance, at this point there is no one who is able to make staffs, bows and arrows. Anyway, it's a nice thread.

EDIT: Another link (http://wow.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=403318)!

No offense but woodcarving doesn't really apply to me. I like my idea better. More simple.

Maybe in what ever high level area your located. I meant like the mining and herbalism, have them around in the areas between the starting areas and the main cities.

Tell that to all the potential Pyromaniacs that are holding back IRL. Give them an escape valve sez I !!

Quoted for Truth. Hell, most of the time when people cook they just go to an Inn and use the fires provided there.

I could see this tied into some sort of woodworking for making Arrows, Bows and Staves. Just a "Fire-Making" prof wouldn't even qualify for a secondary prof...Cooking, Fishing and First Aid have their uses.

I've been with WoW for about two years now on-and-off. And seeing player-made campfires is pretty rare. I doubt this would give a bolster to it.

Now maybe if say better wood would give better/longer buffs (then just a few points of spirit), then it might be more feasable, (IE: drop an int-boosting fire for that boss fight), but again it would have to be tied into a more General Woodworking prof that makes staves, arrows and bows... as simple "campfire-making" prof won't cut it.
