Thats what i'd like to see.
A starcraft version of WOW.
Are there any plans for this?

As far as we know, there aren't. There is a RUMOURED third project (along with WotLK and Starcraft II) code-named "Hydra", in the news forum there is the speculation on that.
But chances are there won't be one, and here are my reasons:
1. Undeveloped story.
Unlike Warcraft which has had 5 titles to it, Starcraft has had 2, so there isn't a lot of story to build up a nice big world from.
2. Stale-ness.
A World of Starcraft would look (at this point) like "Urrrr. ANOTHER WoW? Do we really need one?" by players, so it wouldn't do as well.
3. Title in working.
Starcraft II is underway. So any near-future Starcraft plans are taken up by Starcraft II and it's expansion.

World of Starcraft...hmmm Human Marines going against 2 alien species; with all the guns, explosions, cannons....where have I heard of that game before....OH YEAH! HALO 3, which is due out midnight tonite. Yea Blizz will really have it's hands full to challenge Microsoft and it's Master Chief franchise.

Interesting point. Never thought of that. Maybe that's an underlying reason as to why Ghost died (apart from the obvious reason that Warcraft took the front burner)?
Anywho. I still don't think we need a World of Starcraft.

Hope they'll consider this idea. Would definitely support it

Interesting but i'm sure Blizz wouldn't want to divert attention from the WOW with another MMORPG.
If it had to have a spin-off Starcraft title,i could see it workin more like a Halo type shooter like Calintz said. Choosing from the 3 races, each with unique weaponry and abilities yeah that would kick ass!!!

They tried that. It was called Starcraft Ghost and it was for the Consoles. The most obvious reason for it dying was WCIII and then WoW.
And Calintz wasn't suggesting, he was attacking. He said that a Shooter for SC would be too much of a rip-off of Halo. That's about as bad as making a Mario spin-off.

OOOhhhhhhh my bad!! I didn't notice the hint of sarcasm from Calintz there Average and don't knock the plumber too much. After all MarioKart and Mario RPG are phenomenal games in there own right. Don't you think????

"Universe of Starcraft" - more aptly named for the scope of the game, could work. if theres one thing we know about blizzard, its that they love developing slapped-together backstories. Look at the backstory for the Draeni...
