Hi, all.

My name is Alex. I'm from Chicago, IL, I'm a painter.

After many years of playing Diablo 2, I decided I'd finally take the plunge into WoW. (was apprehensive due to the monthly cost.) Anyways, now that I'm here, I know absolutely NOBODY and it seems that nobody is very interested in making new friends (when I've tried on the realms.)

Anyways, I'm just looking for a buddy to possibly party with, and hang out/chat with/give me some tips etc. as I learn and play this game.

If anybody is interested, I'd be willing to start fresh (I haven't gotten far anyway) on any realm, (preferrably PvP as that seems very sweet) and I'm not picky about wether I'm Alliance or Horde, as eventually I will expand my boundaries anyways.

Please if anybody is interested let me know how we can get in touch...this game seems to have quite a learning curve (never ever played MMO in my life.) Yes I know the game gives me tips and instructions, but simply reading a big list of acronymns (sp?) and definitions is not going to help me lol.

Anyways, again, if anybody is interested in making a new friend, please let me know. Thank you.

Meh, I'm on the European realms, so not much help to you..

However, don't worry unduly- the first few levels are a bit solitary and weird. Once you start getting higher, people need to start grouping for instances, and it gets a lot more social. Guilds and the like aren't really relevant at low levels too. Consider it your period in the wilderness, seeking enlightenment, if you like :)

It gets better. Right now you're being introduced to lots of funny mechanics, and a lot of it doesn't make sense- but it was the same for everyone. It will all start slotting into place soon, and the more you learn, the more fun it becomes. It's a big ol' sandbox. Be a little paitient- it starts off slow, you're like a musician learning scales right now. That's the boring crap you have to live through before you can jam.

The "old world" is pretty deserted these days as people just want to level as fast as possible to get to Outland, as that's where the action is now. It does make some of the older content seem spookily quiet. This is unfortunate for new players who don't have someone to look after them, as it feels like they're a little out of it. However, the best way to solve this (if you want to get to the fun aspects of the game) is to roll your sleeves up, and crack on with some quests, getting some levels and experience to your name. It's a bit of a long road from the starter areas to the endgame raids, but there are some really interesting sights on the way.

Like I say, European player here, so all I can do is preach to you in an annoying manner. However, good luck, and have fun.

Same as above - Euro Player.

But moopy has pretty much said all that needs to be said.

On another note - reroll as either a Warrior or a Priest and you'll get plenty of invites to group as you are an essential class.

Ive just started a PVP warrior alt and ive turned down more invites that you could shake a stick at including 3 guild offers - and im only Lvl 14 on that guy.

The best people you meet are always when you meet up by accident during a Q and group for mutual benfit, so quest away and you'll soon see your buddy list growing.

You're welcome to join a group of us on Feathermoon! We're Ally...it IS an RP realm, but you're always able to turn your PvP on and play that way.

There are lots of players in the guild just starting out, so you'll have people to quest/level with...not to mention the copous amount of ALTs I and some others have *grin*

We're nice, all alittle weird and nutty...oh and you'd have to watch out for kman *pokes Kodonn* ...muuahahahahaha!

take care!

I'm Tula on Feathermoon as well :) goodluck!

I was lucky: I had a friend who sat down with me at the computer and helped me through the first stages--I would have been pretty lost without her I think. I don't know your age or where you live so I wouldn't know, but there are so many wowheads and maybe you can personally meet up with one in your area.

But if you pay close attention to the Manual you should be okay. You start out in a relatively safe area where the monsters are weak and nobody is going to notice if you if you do inept things. Don't be afraid to look noobish, nobody's watching. Before you know it someone will invite you to a group, and after a bit of fumbling with the chat interface you'll have made contact with potential friends.

Don't worry, there's not much you can do that is actually 'wrong.' You can't loose the points you've already gained, dying won't hurt you, and you can only get stronger. Never become abusive in chat and nothing bad can happen.

Thank you for the advice, all. By the way someone was asking my age etc...I'll actually be turning 26 tomorrow. And I live in the US. (Chicago, IL).

Thanks again everybody for all your help.

Oh yeah one more quick question. I am not seeing PVP RP realms. I see Regular, PVP, and RP. But I do not see PVP/RP realms. hmm...

ooh i was also confused, RP is the same as RP/PVP

you have a choice to turn PvP on and off on both RP and regular realms. On PvP realms you can't turn it off. On RP you can RP on normal you don't :)

hope this helps :)

Oh oh ...another one from Chicago.:ponder:

Sox or Cubs?

*points gun at a possible Cub fan*

Try Llane server, it's a PvE server and the server time is one hour ahead of Chicago time. From there check the Llane Forum (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?forumId=11372&sid=1) and check TBC guild listing thread and find one that suits by checking out the guilds web site, and then apply to one of the guilds.

GL luck out there!!

Executus (US) is a PVP server and most players are pretty young (avg 12 - 26). If you don't mind the young crowd, you are welcome to try it out on the Executus.

I will be 70 this week and I can help you out a little bit if you decide to stay. BTW, make sure you have a huge PvPness because that is our guild name.

Name: Healicia - Draenei Priest (Alliance)
Guild: has a huge PvPness

You can find some RP-PvP realms here (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/realmstatus/).

Examples of which are: Emerald Dream, Lightninghoof, Maelstrom and Ravenholdt to name but a few.

RP realms are more akin to PvE realms, than they are PvP realms. That's where RP-PvP comes looking around the corner.

If, the emptiness truly bothers you, then you might want to consider shelling out the dosh for the TBC expansion and going for for either the Dranei or Blood Elven races, both areas seem to have a reasonable amount of population at all times. Even though most quests can be quite easily solo'd if you put your mind to it.

if you dont mind PvE, zul'jin horde side has a guild full of 20 somethings that play daily...

true story

used to be nagagavemeharpies, but changed guilds due to inactivity from me and all the other members, so it was making it hard to recruit people.

but!!! add beautefatale, callmetim, sephirothlol, rottentomato, seben, mostaffa, or nitsuj, and im sure you can get an invite rather quickly. we love to help out, and most of us are pretty chatty.

plus zul'jin is a rather busy server in EST zone...so its right there with you and your CST

::whistles innocently:: I have no idea to whom you could possibly be referring....

I'm Tula on Feathermoon as well :) goodluck!

And a few other names as well. ;)

Feel free to join us - the more the merrier. An old Diablo 2 player myself - and being pretty new also, I know exactly how lonely it can be until you get yourself some playmates. :hanky:
