I have only been playing this game for two months and have been in two instances. I was a party leader last night to try a third. Upon entering the instance, everything was cleared. I assumed that the option reset all instances would reset it and the mobs would be there. Am I incorrect in my assumption? I tried that numerous times last night to no avail. We had an awesome party as well.
I just thought of another newbie question regarding pvp. I am a gnome lock and is it proper to use my VW in pvp? Would using sacrifice be a cheap way of winning?

To reset the instance you need to make sure everyone is standing outside of it in order for it to work.
In-regards to your sacrifice question, using one of your class skills to win at PvP is never cheap. Think of it this way, since i am a priest is it cheap that i can heal myself to stay alive unlike a warrior or rogue?. Use your VW but save your sacrafice till it's needed. Alot of people like succubus's though for the seduce. Also fel hunters are great for interuppting casters and eating buffs, but idk if you can use one of those yet.

We all were outside. I was just wondering if perhaps it was a glitch since the voice chat went on-line yesterday or if I was doing something wrong.
Regarding the pvp, yes, I have both of those minions. I dueled for fun yesterday and won every time. The person I was dueling was not pvp so really neither one of us had a clue.
I just didn't want to duel a stranger and do something that is frowned upon.

If you were in the instance already and cleared it you would need to reset it, this also happens (I think?) if you are not the party leader the first time and then are the next time around. The option to reset instances is found along with the party loot options and other things, just right click your character portrait and is should be listed in there if you are the leader.
But your assumption is right, if you reset it, the mobs should be back. Only exception is where you have to go through part of an area to actually get to an instance portal - perfect example is Deadmines, once you enter the hideout area there are a bunch of elites, and it's some distance until you get to the instance portal itself. If it's an area where other players not in your party can still go, they could have killed off any mobs, and the mobs might not have respawned as of yet.
I'm only taking a guess as to the part outside the instance, since you did not mention what instances you went into or any changes in party if there were any. While this can happen with Deadmines, it won't happen with an instance like Stockades.

Hello, I'm a bit confused as to your newness considering that you joined the site in June 2003 and have 2,192 posts at the moment? I must have missed a previous post or something.
Either way, welcome to wow.

When this site went on, the D2 forum posts transferred over..clear now?
We were doing ZF Gorny. I was the party leader and we all were outside the instance. None of us could figure out what was up. It was already cleared by another group, not us.

OMG it's Zodi!
Yes, Darkdrifter, Ash Housewares was "new to the game" with more than 20k posts. These forums were all joined together back in the days, and when they split existing members kept their join date and post count. The first part of my post count is also gathered on diabloii.net.

Yes, I have finally succumbed to the evil that is WoW. Even went out and bought me a mic today.

as for your instance problem, i have no idea :( if everything fails, just abandon the group and have someone else invite again. this way it should be clear. But normaly the "reset instance" button should work.
and for pvp : using a lock is generaly a cheap way to win at pvp :P
serious though, if there are no rules specified, everything counts. bandages, health pots, engeneering bombs, pets, run & hide, everything.

Gosh darn it- you'll get thrown out of warlock club, asking questions like that. Warlocks are supposed to be nasty, cheap ways of winning make them giggle in a hysterical manner :-)

No, I am cute. I do a cute little dance and have this sweet little giggle. Screw with me and you will be hit with my shadow bolt.
*kisses*
In all actuality, I am sure my toon is horrid. But, I am having fun and that is what the game is about.

You’ll look even cuter when you are boiling in my cooking pot.
Oh well… I’ll let you grow up first. Welcome to WoW!!

The cute, innocent-looking gnomelocks are the most evil of all, of course- that's half the fun :-)
