Hi all,

I have been playing WoW for a few months now and every so often WoW will suddenly minimize and my desk top comes up. As I am sure you all can appreciate it is very inconvenient.

I am running Windows XP, with Zone Alarm on a P3 hyper thread processor, 1 gig ram and plenty of drive space.

So what could be cuasing this?

I would appreciate any suggestions, thank you.

A Pentium 3 with Hyperthreading? I think you mean a Pentium 4.

Anyway, WoW is windowing because some program on the desktop keeps calling the view back to the desktop. Some gaggy software you put on there, considering how many millions of programs there are, chances of me guessing this is one to a million. Either wipe the computer and reinstall Windows. Or take a guess at which one could be doing it and shut it off. It could be anything, explicit or hidden. Standard Windows doesn't do it on its own, it's something you introduced and either didn't know that it did that, or you've got some junk on your PC loaded without your knowledge at all.

Without a fix on it, the only way to destroy the whateveritis is to wipe the machine and start clean (And be more wary of what was put on next time). It'd be like trying to find a needle in a male student's flat, sifting through the OS for days on end. Quicker just to back up essentials and documents, wipe it and reinstall.

Anything could be the cause, thus I can only recommend a blanket solution.

before doing this try cleaning the crap off first.. No need to reinstall everything before trying this.. Another stupid question here is do you hit the windows key? I sometimes do this with out realising that i did.. Hope you find out what reason =)

That or stop accidentally pressing the windows key :)

That is always sound advice ;)

I think bogus software is probably a more likely explaination. Thanks for your help all.
