What is a Private Server....?

I was looking at some videos or Wow...and i saw people on "private servers"...how can you do this..? and what is it?

Well, since they're not legal, we don't help people find them here.

Basically, what it is is a server someone has set up that emulates the wow servers. You then use the normal WoW client to connect to the server. As I understand it, it's been a while since the last time any of the real server code got leaked, so most of the servers around now are either very out of date, hacked up to emulate the current functionality, or functionality missing. Or in many cases, a combination of the above.

Yeah, first it's against Blizzards TOS - you also have to modify your files (just to log on to one - or create your own) and if Blizz catches you - your account will be perma banned.

Also, it's against the law as you would be technically stealing the intelectual property (code) from Blizzard Entertainment. And they do, to my knowledge, crack down on and sometimes bring a suite against those that operate these types of servers as it takes away from their player base and their money.

What needs to have been said has been said already on this issue.

Trying to gather info on illigal private servers is not something which is tolerated here, quite the opposite, the feeling is quite against it.
