Failed?

I just got a quest called "Stoley's Debt"--and it's marked red for me and it says (failed) after it. I haven't yet tried to do this one and I suspect that it isn't failed at all, but is that a bug or something? I think that happened to me before and I had no problem completing the quest. I don't recall not what that other quest was, so I can't use it as an example.

Doesn't look like a timed quest, so I'd say maybe it was bugged for you. Try abandoning it and taking it again to see if that fixes the problem.

I just completed the quest okay. Seemed to be no problem, tho I was wondering why it was marked red when it was so safe and easy (I'm level 40). Maybe if I hadn't already had a gryph point at Gadgetzan it would have been more risky to get there. No it wasn't timed, I suppose it's just some bug.

It was marked red due to the level 'requirement'. If I remember right, it's marked as a lvl 45 quest - 5 levels above your own.

That part of the quest is easy enough (though you might run into some lvl 42-43 mobs along the way), but the next bit has a couple of 2-3 mob fights which will be a wee bit rich for a level 40.
