Hey guys, I just got a Logitech G5 mouse (1 thumb button kind) and I'm having issues binding moves/keys to the extra buttons.
Is there a mod I need to d/l to allowed extra buttons to be binded? Or is there a setting someplace that I'm not seeing?
On my old mouse I would use the mouse wheel up for one move, mouse wheel down for a 2nd, and pushing the wheel in for a 3rd. With the new mouse I seem to have lost the ability to use mouse wheel in as well. So i guess my issues are with the mouse wheel and thumb button binds... (these buttons work out of wow, so i know they at least work)
I would appreciate any advice on what to try because I am stumped. Is there something I'm missing or is the G5 not compatible? thx

This may be a stupid question, but have you installed the driver that came with the mouse?

haha yeah. I used the CD that came with it to install drivers/software. The thumb button does work outside of WOW (its like a back button for the internet). I just can't bind it to a WOW key for some reason...

Are you using Logitech's SetPoint program? Change the bindings to be be "Generic Mouse Button" or something like that it's called, for each extra buttons. These will still work as forward/back/etc but now they'll also bind in WoW. I can check the exact name if you can't find it, let me know.

I found the generic mouse button under the "other" category but it still doesn’t let my thumb bind... humm, I've also added WOW to one of the recognized games list, no luck

That's the right option. I set the Game Detection to diabled (uncheck it) and the Spedd/Acceleration to SetPoint Implementation. I don't know if either of those matter. otherwise it may be a mouse issue, not all things that work with SetPoint are the same, and Logitech haven't produced proper Vista drivers yet if you're running Vista.

GOOD NEWS!!! --- I just saved a bunch of money on car insura...
Actually, it now works! both the thumb button and middle mouse.
I had to go to logitech's website and download the setpoint program from there. The CD software is too outdated to be of use. That comebind with your settings Tunga seemed to have done the trick! /meSoHappy
Thx again Tunga for sticken with me--- your skill in helpfullness +1

Well I'm glad I could help someone else considering the time I spent trying to get it working myself.
My "surf" buttons still don't work properly though, not matter what I bind them too they always also do the scroll action which they default to. It's annoying because I used to have one mapped as my push-to-talk key in Ventrilo but I can't now since it would also zoom my camera out in WoW (and I'd have to debind the mousewheel as camera zoom to disable that). This is basically because Logitech haven't bothered to produce a working Vista driver for a mouse that's less than two years old (MX510).
