Hello,

Not being really technically adept, I would like to ask a couple of questions. I am currently running WoW on my Toshiba laptop and have no problems with it since I installed 2 gig of ram. In fact, my current video card is a nVidia 4200 ToGo.

However is is time for a new lasptop. I need a laptop, rather than a desktop. I have been leaning toward a Dell. The one I am considering has:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7250 (2MB cache/2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB), English
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition, English
Glossy, high contrast, widescreen 17.0 inch display (1440 x 900)
3GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (1GB x 2GB)
250G 5400RPM SATA HDD
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8600M GT
8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability

It has some more stuff but this gives the technical gist of it. I read on here some comments on video card but I have read both good and not so good comments.

Would this be a good system?
I would be moving to Windows Vista from XP - will this cause me headaches?
Is the video card ok?
The 3 gigs of ram should be ok?
How easy is it to transfer all my data to my new notebook?

I have also been considering another Dell, similar to the above but with this video card:

256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS
with this option:
512MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7950 GTX

This is much more expensive. Would either of these video cards make any significant differnce from my first option?

I mainly shudder about switching to Vista. Any comments here. Does Vista pose problems or should I reinstall Windows XP?

Finally... I have never considered an Apple Mac notebook. Does anyone use these for WoW/ If so, what factors should I consider, if any?

Thanks so much. You could really help me out here. My current laptop is about 4 years old and needs replacing. I use it a lot.

Thanks in advance!

Max.

Hi again,

Sorry to be a pest, but I just saw this Toshiba in a computer store and was wondering if this might do the job. Here is a link to its specs:

http://www.toshiba.ca/web/product.grp?lg=en&section=1&group=1&product=7030&part=6482#spectop

This has the ATI Radeon HD 2600 card with 256MB. I have never used an ATI card, only NVIDIA, so I'm not at all familiar with them.

Thanks!

Max.
