Newbie help :(

ive just downloaded WOW on the 10 day free trial :) problem is i cant install it :( the file i got was WoW-2.0.0-enUS-Installer and when i run it i can an error message, Blizzard installer has stopped working please close the program. then a pop up appears about a problem caused by LAME ACM MP3 codec. wat does this mean?? my PC is good enough i think to play this game, i have an athlon 3700, 6 gig of ram, an nvidia 7800gs and running vista. any help guys please..

By the way, 6 gig of RAM? That's a lot. :smiley:

First off, do you have Vista 64 bit or Vista 32 bit? If it's 32 bit, we have a problem, due to your memory address table having reached maximum capacity, leaving quite a lot of your memory unaddressable and hence unusable, not just in your ram but on all your caches, such as on a soundcard, on the hard drives, or on the optical drives. Even the graphics card has a huge amount of memory that needs to be on the memory addressing table. It's a limitation of the 32 bit basis of the software, you need to be running a 64 bit OS with that kind of memory, or take half of your ram out.

That's just one obvious problem, which might not be the case if you're already on Vista 64 instead of the standard Vista 32.
