what are these things called events on main page?

On the main page there is something called up coming events in next 10 days, and has a bunch of places and says reset? What does this mean? and what are these places?

They're referring to when the various raids will reset.

Each raid instance is on a certain timer (all BC Raids are on 1 week timers) this means that if you go in a raid with 10 people, you become saved to that particular instance, and every week on Tuesday the instances reset and you're not longer saved.

This allows groups to come back and try again at a later date.

So when it says Karazhan Reset (Blah) it means that the 10 Man Raid Instance Karazhan (in Deadwind Pass) will reset, meaning all the groups that are saved there will be unset.
