well, i was in arena for the first time last week with a druid friend of mine, and we played 8 games, won 2 (but shh, it was my first time so dont laugh).
For some reason i didnt get any points and he did? anyone know why?
Would it be because he got all the killing blows? Or is there another reason?
any help would be apreciated

You have to play a minimum of 10 games per week per team (if you;re on more than one size of a team). Additionally, you have to play 30% or more of your team's games.
An example:
A given size team can have 2x the team size as team members. Thus, a 2v2 team can have 4 people on it. If person A and person B play 10 games and then person A plays 8 games with person C, person A qualifies for points since they played 18 matches and that's more than 30% of the total. Person C didn't play the minimum 10 games so they get zero points. Had person C played 10 games, they'd have gotten points since 10/18 is > 30%.

I'm afraid it's a near-certainty that your friend somehow snuck another couple of rounds in with someone else. I'm sure there was nothing malicious about it, if you didn't know about this rule I presume he didn't either.
Edited to add:
Check the results on your character pane - it may be that you read it wrong and you did in fact play 10 games, winning 2 and losing 8.

Yeah you have to do 10 to get any points.
What is your team's name? We can look for you.
Also for the future, here's a Blizz arena calculator that quickly shows you how many points you'll receive simply by putting in your current rating.

Edit: NVM I think I found you.

Open your character screen and click the PvP tab. You'll see your team and then entries for Games, Won/Loss and Played. Games is the number of games that team has played. Played is how many YOU played. If the Games says 10, then he played another 2 games OR if you have other people on the team, one of them did.
If you and he are the only 2 people on the team, make SURE that you play all 10 games every week. You can play them over the week here and there or all at once. But play them all or you get nothing...

Is your team-mate also in another team? He could have earned his points from that.
He isn't, I just checked...strange, strange.

He isn't now, but he could have been in one, lost every game, left the team then joined up with Ilianis...that would explain how he only has 50 points. He could just be covering up his poor start to Ilianis by telling him he's never done it before.
Or, it's just one of those bug thingies I keep hearing about...

>10 games = impossible to get points. Not to mention if he only got 50 points he must have been on a really really really bad team.

Yeah... I mean my teams suck... but we get 200 points at 2v2 (by suck I mean like 1200ish ratings. And yes, we're just in it for the weapons. So I can't imagine 50 points. Might be a bug - if you care, I'd asked Blizz. Make sure that you get your 10 games in this week regardless

I think your partner forgot how many points he had, and is imagining the extra 50.

Only 50 points? That seems rather low... Even if you are horrible you usually get at least 200 points, 200+ your first week for sure.

Just out of interest, if you continually lose all the rounds you play do you eventually get no points? Has anyone been in a team with less than 1000 rating?
Surely for every high-rated team, there must be lots at the bottom getting hardly any points per week?

I'm not sure that is possible, once you go below a certain point you wouldn't lose any more rating I would think. So while it is probably possible to drop below 1000 there is probably a rating not too far below 1000 that would essentially be a floor that you wouldn't be able to go below. And even at that theoretical floor, you would most likely earn some points.

If you keep losing, you will eventually meet people so horrible that you have to win :)

usually. But I've run into teams that entered the arena and did /dance. They just didn't care - all they wanted were points and did their 10 games as fast as possible.

Happened to my 2v2 team 3 times in a row! Good for us, free points.
The other team was dancing not us.
