As we are nearing November, it is time to anticipate Christmas by changing your avatar accordingly! I gave the example, now follow!
I am prepared to take orders for the graphically challenged people amongst yourselves. Post a reply in this thread if you want your avatar christmasified by yours truly.
Are w missing Halloween this year? :(

WHAM! Nicely done, I do wonder if my latte will appreciate the extra insulation!

Yeah, I took the liberty of editing your avatar myself, when I have the ability to do so anyway, it's easier than just sending it to you (I saved the original image as well just in case you somehow deleted it from your pc and want it back later).
First I was considering making it more realistic, meaning the hat would be pulled entirely over the cup, but then I don't think you would recognize the original image anymore.

Haha no worries, I have that original image saved on my computer, so you can go ahead and delete your copy...unless of course you want to get rid of your hideous Monty python reference!
I kid, I kid

There you go, I liked the one you made as well though.
EDIT: Moved this to Community Forum for increased traffic, we need a mass avatar christmasification!
EDIT2: And twoflower, please don't try to tell me you can resist this: http://www.woutichon.be/img/2flowerxmas.jpg, or if you want to retain the greyscale: http://www.woutichon.be/img/2flowerxmasblw.jpg
Don't have my animated avatar in a "christmasified" version, so this must do.
HOWEVER....being sceptical against the church and pretty much all kinds of religions, I still want to bring up one thing: It is CHRISTMAS as in CHRIST and MAS. Now, I don't know what churches you lot attended and what bibles you have at home, but there is no passage in my bible that goes "Lo and behold, forth came the lord and he hath a shiny red hat with a white fuzzy nipple on his head".
So what we are doing here is "Santa-Clausing" our avatar "in the Coca Cola" version and just going that extra step towards a commercialization and mixing up christmas with something else. Not that I care...because the church and christianity did the same thing when placing the christmas date over an original heathen festivity (same for easter, really).
Now we have something else to talk here than just backslapping ourselves for our avatars :)

I guess I could do something festive with AWESOME RED PANDA over there.

Now we have something else to talk here than just backslapping ourselves for our avatars :)You have a point, but commercialization is here. Heck, every holiday is a festivity for commerce these days. Us putting santa hats on our avatar is really the least we should complain about. But santa hats are so cute, and besides, I just love the word "christmasify".
I would call myself an agnostic. Christmas is something I associate with being with your family having a cosy time, and not necessarily with the birth of Jesus. Christmas tree lights, christmas markets with hot wine and chocolate milk, people wishing each other happy holiday. The song "holidays are coming, holidays are coming" on the Coca Cola commercial... Yeah, I know, it's commercial as hell, but I don't really mind. It's things like the commercialization of Halloween and Valentine's Day I have more problems with...
Wow....while I can follow your argumentation towards the commericalisation of Christmas, the conclusion that you have a problem with the same thing happening at Halloween or Valentine's day blows my mind. I mean..for all I know Valentine's day could be an invention of the flower or jewellry or greeting card industry ^^ And Halloween is all about dressing up, costumes, sweets etc. Screams "BUY ME"
snowieken
11-11-2007, 01:37 PM
Err, that's exactly what I mean. Valentine's Day is a great idea for a holiday (and it's not entirely random, as it is really the feast of Saint Valentine). And Halloween is a real holiday as well - but the amount of "buy me" commercialization is really making it disgusting.
Same with Christmas, but I just like the holiday too much to be majorly annoyed by the blatant commercialization. Not entirely objective, I know. So I guess it's just personal.
Personal, yes...... as I totally ignore things like Mother's day, Halloween, Thanksgiving or Valentine's day anhow. I think if you neglect your relationship 364 days a year, then remembering a valentine's gift just makes it worse
"Oh honey, I bought you flowers not because I felt like it, but because it is a holiday in the calender and commercials tell me to do it"

Me me too too
It might be hard to do something christmassy with an eye. So you can find the source here (http://www.celebritywonder.com/wallpaper/Hulk__Wallpaper_1_1280.html). I basically took the eye from the The Hulk-movie and messed with the color palette in Ye Olde Photoshoppe untill the iris was "gold".
Perhaps you can put a reindeer in the pupil or something? You have carte blanche fellow countryman.
PS: Bah, those sprinkle-showers in the morning can really mess up your tire-grip. Almost ended up in the gingerbread houses twice !
snowieken
12-11-2007, 11:47 PM
Reindeer in the pupil would be far too small to distinguish, and as the actual pupil is only a few pixels big it is quite impossible to even get one in there. So I hope this will do, hiding and lurking behind the christmas tree!
Also uploaded amgyn's and Tunga's (couldn't resist adding something more than a hat), am trying to find a way to christmasify WatcherZero's, and YAWP, your image file cannot be opened somehow.

Strange how I only spotted this thread just now.. what a cute idea!
Is it possible to alter the defaults avatars, like the one I'm using? Because I'd really love to. Although I suspect that it'll be Americanified as well, and have cookies added to it. Lol.
If people want to make xmas avatars I can make an xmas category and bung them in there so they're selectable.
Either put your avatars in your threads or email them to me at elly@incgamers.com.
snowieken
23-11-2007, 01:28 PM
Changed it for you, Marlous. And although I am not American, the "milk & cookies" idea is just too good to not do. :azn:
EDIT: If you want, I can reupload it without the santa hat and just only the cookie, it's up to you.
Marlous
23-11-2007, 01:35 PM
Heh, thank you! It's lovely. And fair enough - it's indeed quite a nice idea. But your comment about ditching the santa hat is one that I'm going to accept, because it seems a bit too much if you c atch my drift.
And btw, since you're coming from the land of divine chocolate and sugared waffles and delicious thick fries can get away with Americanifying something. :p
snowieken
23-11-2007, 01:45 PM
Yeah, that's why I made the edit. After uploading I realized one could hardly recognize the milk anymore. I like putting santa hats on objects, though, it can have some quite absurd results.

Unless you replace it with some chocolate Easter eggs or other themed stuffs. That'd be okay.
