View Full Version : Elite quests that are no longer elite

I'm curious if anyone's had a chance to check out any of the outdoor areas where elite mobs are (were?) hanging out, but some of which are no longer going to be elite come 2.3's release. I know that Arathi's Stromgard Keep is getting its elite status downgraded. Likewise I've read that Pyrewood Village retains elite status. Are there any more beyond that?

Some places that come to mind are: The elite ogres in the ruins of alterac, the elite ogres in loch modan, the elite ogres in STV, the elite dwarves in Hillsbrad, the elite dwarves in the wetlands, and lastly I vaguely remember Winterspring having elite Yetis.

I have done no specific research, but it would not surprise me if blizzard downgraded some of the mobs for some level 30-60 quests.

2.3 will cause less xp to be required for leveling 30-60 (approx 20% less, per level) and also most/all of the level 30-60 quest xp is greater (the ones I turned in were each around 20%).

Making the mobs a bit easier is consistent.

Stromgarde has already been announced to become non-elite. I'd appreciate the Ogres in STV as non-elite, especially with the crappy droprate for "Cracking Maury's foot". They are also the reason why I never followed the "Yenniku" questchain to the end.

At one point, the dragons near Onyxia's lair in DWM have already been downgraded...I always skipped them because of that, but my rogue found them recently to be suddenly soloable

yeah that was last patch. I presume it was to make the scales more easily farmable as it mentioned increased drop rate at the same time.

Slightly challenging content detected, OMG, quick nerf it!

det,

Crappy droprate for the foot quest? I'm generally shocked if I don't get the key within the first five kills.

I had no trouble soloing the elite ogres in Alterac Ruins, when only a level or two higher and wearing average gear.

But it will be nice to see which elites are getting nerfed (so to speak).

Might copy my mage over to the PTR's tomorrow when I get home and check it out.

That ogre boss (yes, you can call him a boss now, since he drops a blue two-hand mace now  ) in The Deadmines have two elites next to him on the live patch, but on the PTR, the Elites are non-elites now

I say, Soloing the deadmines for sweet loot is almost what excites me the most about next patch. Time to level my enchanting !

maurys foot drops within the first 3 kills on the guys right at the start of the path to the ogre hangout. FYI.
