View Full Version : Too Much Information

I am not very fond of getting all information that seems to be available in this game.... It tends to make the game a bit lame for me. I like being surprised. I don't know.

Anyway, please don't judge me, I don't need any of that. :P

I am looking for a mod that will hide things from me. Things like what type of mob I am attacking. I'll figure out whether it is a beast, demon or humanoid by looking at it, not by reading at it (that makes no sense anyway). I don't want to know the level (maybe a 'weak', 'equal', 'very strong' and 'incredibly strong' indicator), I like being surprised. In general, I am not very fond of any type of numbers found in the game, either. I don't particulary care if one sword does 5-7 damage and another does 5-8. DPS and stuff is all just not very interesting to me.

Things like that.

Now, when I played about two years ago, there were a couple of mods that did this sort of stuff. I can't for the life of me remember which ones did that, though, and I've searched around a fair bit, but been unable to find anything that does what I want.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ways to help me out with this?

Should I just figure out how to mod this stuff in myself? (I'm a bit scared of trying that, but I will try some simple stuff if there's nothing pre-made or anything. Pointers would be very much appreciated.)

I can't think of anything to do this, it's not really something that very many people would want (most people are the complete opposite and want everything turning into numbers!).

Use something like bartender to remove the default bars.

Use something like pitbull to minimize the amount of information you can receive.

I don't now of anything that removes weapon tooltips, or armor tooltips.

If you ran a very small simplistic UI it would help here.

Thanks a million (both of you, though Tunga's post wasn't overly helpful :P (though I guess I shouldn't talk -- read the rest of this post, heh))

I'm going to come back to this when I'll actually be able to play the game, which won't be till January. (I am just utterly bored at the moment so I figured I'd look for some of this stuff). I actually just remembered that I have two mods installed already; I did that before I left my laptop behind when running away from my life -- to which I will return in January.

One of them is a sort of HUD (I can't for the life of me remember what it was). The HUD was completely configurable: you could indicate what numbers you wanted to see where. I actually cleared out the whole thing, so all it gives me now is a few bars of hit points/mana and such. I don't recall what I did with the level indicator, but I'm fairly certain that I'll be able to work with it.

There was also a mod that reverted the tooltip to the classic alpha/beta tooltip. I liked that one, but I'll still need something for that. I'll figure it out later.

Thanks again and sorry for bothering you. I probably shouldn't even be posting here without having any sort of clue what's going on. :P

Oy, I am so good at rambling on sometimes. Not sure what the hell is up with that. I guess I just like to add a lot of narrativium to my life sometimes (for the uninformed, narrativium is something a bit like a story. Like the life of a hero in a fairy tale. I'll shut up now.)

Flayer, sounds like you have quite a few things going on, is everything alright with ya?

Eh. That's a very long story. Not sure if you'd be interested in that one, heh.

I'll share with ya happily, though... but another thing I'm not sure of if this is the right medium for that. :P

You know what's also funny? You're the second person to ask me that question today. Actually, within a 30 minute time span... Somewhat creepy. Funny, but creepy. I guess I do have some issues, heh.

Thanks again and sorry for bothering you. I probably shouldn't even be posting here without having any sort of clue what's going on. :PNo need to worry about this, all questions and discussions are welcome  . And sorry my post wasn't so useful but I really couldn't think of anything to help here. Hope you get everything sorted out and can find something to suit you in WoW too  .
