And you posted this here, rather than reporting it to Blizzard's staff?

Could you copy the email?
Sorry, this just doesn't even remotely sound like it is real.

Lesson 1: Do not have too many drinks before logging into these forums.
Sounds like someone with authority to kick in your guild has had their account keylogger'd.
That or the guild leader wanted to try out a new and exciting way of disbanding a guild...
This is one of those events where I wish the OP would express himself with more than 2 lines of incoherant rambling that is riddled with grammar and spelling mistakes. Can't make any sense of this, really...

There's a nifty bug where officers who have previously been GM's can get GM rights. We had it in our guild but really was no huge problem as the previous GM stepped down due to stress and not due to being completly mad.
Regardless, we made a ticket and got it resolved.
This, however, sounds like something entierly different unless it's a huge guild and someone, somehow managed to promote themself from member all the way to GM.
Which, naturally, could have some strange side effects on the guildbank feature comming in 2.3.
That being said; I somehow doubt this is the case and something entierly different has happened here. If malicious forces, so to say, have figured out how to actually take over a guild, we'd probably see this happening for a lot of guilds.

Hmm, good question, was the perp an officer or someone who used to be an officer in the guild? If not and if you just recruited that guy, he might have received the wrong rights by a distracted guild officer.
If he wasn't even in your guild (which your post slightly suggests), I don't believe a word of this either.

It's possible the guild master was hacked and said hacker used a newly created unguilded alt to make the demands and then, when not met, /gquit on the GM toon.

It could have been an alt of an officer or the GM on a different account. I suspect we will never know, especially after the warm welcome he has received here.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the GM have to promote someone to GM in order to leave the guild? (or disband the guild)
The OP said nothing of the guild being disbanded.

That's correct, you cannot /gquit, /gdisband nor, according to some recent posts from Blizzard, delete your character as long as you're a GM of a guild. You need to promote someone else first.

A guild I was in a few months ago had an occurance that is sort of similar.
The GL (I use GL instead of GM - old habits) liked to trade/purchase accounts unbeknownst to many of us.
One evening he logged on and without saying a word, passed the lead to a random person and /gquit there was a huge uproar as people wondered what the heck was going on. He logged on another account, joined the guild wiht a lowbie, and told everyone that the account he had traded was taken back by the original owner, also we were now a tank short - that was the beginning of the end of that guild for me.

It's likely the GM's account got hacked and, after stripping down all the GM's characters, said hacker got greedy and invited one of his own unguilded alts into the guild, promoted that toon to GM, and then started making demands.
I know I don't usually check guild member ranks when I look at the screen, so it's possible the OP didn't see that the GM had been demoted prior to the ultimatum and subsequent kicking.
