First off, id definately go ice if your serious about pvp. Ice gives you much better survivability, which is the basis for sucess in pvp.

That said, Good job picking Gnome  size gives you an advantedge in some rather hard to measure ways such as hiding behind things or being clicked less in groups of players. Also love escape artist its so useful........ Not to mention the fun of playing one =p

for stats, you seem to be ignoring sta and resil, which are vital for pvp. id put those two in front of int, crit, and spell dmg just be sure to avoid going off the deep end in any direction.

No way... You dont have to be frost to own in pvp. Im straight pvp and i dont die more then 3-4 times in a BG usually and is always in the top 3 in dmg. For a POM spec.. i like 33/28/0 more then 40/21/0. But thats your decision.

you dont have to, but it is easier.

insta pyro isnt as good as it used to be pre BC. Noone has so little life that you can oneshot him. and a insta pyro mage has not much else he can do.

Aye, POM Pyro isn't anywhere near as deadly as it was Pre-TBC. But, if you use it after a target has started to takedamage, it CAN take out one player. But then your left relatively useless. And if it gets resisted, then your screwed, or if it doesn't take out that one player, then your screwed even as well.

or spell reflect. or a reflect trinket. or a well timed iceblock.

anyway, once you burned your cooldowns, you are screwed. hence the term "3 minutes mage".

There's a mage in our server that is frost and it takes like 5 new 70's to take him out - once he's killed them all a couple times and they band together - then he kills them all when they're together. He's frost, isn't in all epics, and loves to raid SouthShore solo haha

IMO - POM mages get owned by big red pet and a properly timed FD right before that first pyro. Pyro Pom Pyro - so FDing on the first one messes them up bad IMO. Not that it's a bad spec - I've seen fire mages own ppl like no tomorrow - but 95% of the mages I go up against in arena are frost. Frost has much more survivability - you don't get the ZOMG did you see that crit, but you get to ZOMG did you watch kill those 4 dudes!
