Theres a few things I'd like to ask

1) I am going to be starting to play WoW again, and i know the install process is ridiculously time consuming, so i'm trying to cut it down this time. If i install WoW, do i need to download all patches for that before i install TBC? or can i just install both and then start doing patch downloads

2) Assuming that i am going to install both before i download any patches, can anyone tell me where i can install all patches to date one single, solid file? preferably one that you are positive has no viruses. I've had horrible experiences with the blizzard downloader, and i refuse to subject myself to that again, so im looking for other sources this time. But every time i look for the patches, there are multiple ones instead of just one file containing all of them.

3) basic instructions on where and how to apply the patches would be cool, because i'm hardly tech savvy

Thanks alot for your help

Another thought I just had:

Which patches do i really need? Do i only need the last one (2.3)? Or do i need to install every patch to date including that one?

installing TBC includes all the patches up to at least 2.1. More if you bought a disc printed more recently (I think). After that you download a 2.x to 2.3 patch in one go and then you're set.

As for where to get said patch, I'm sure there's a list of mirrors somewhere around here...

If you go to fileplanet.com and click on "Warcraft", the top banner of the WoW page is a link to their 2.3.0 full update download which includes every patch from the start of TBC until 2.3, not just the 2.2-2.3 patch.

Once downloaded, pop it in your WoW install folder and double click it and it will install automatically.

I actually subscribe to fileplanet now and use them over the blizz downloader for patches, much faster.

(turns out you need to be a subscriber for this particular download of 700mb, so you can either pay $6.95 for a month just to get up to date and then use the blizz downloader for all other patches or just take the time to sit around downloading every patch using the blizz downloader right now)
