I was told by a couple guildies that the only good druids in PvP, I'm talking arena and BGs, are resto...would you guys agree with this?

aside, I am asking this question because I am rolling a druid from a shadowpriest. As you can see I like utility classes...I can DPS, I can pop shadow and heal or rez if needed...etc. It seems to me that the ultimate utility class is a druid. Tank goes down for whatever reason, he DCs, you can switch from cat to bear and take over tanking on the fly, you pop out and throw heals (understandably they won't be great if feral speccd, but you could). My questions are these, is my understanding of the druid class correct? If feral speccd, in the same gear, you can tank or DPS?

Thanks in advance, just want to check out all this stuff before I roll one to 70.

A bit romaticised, but in general, yes.

You won't pick up a Raid boss in catgear - you'll go splat. If you're there to dps or tank, you won't switch out to heal all the time (you'll go splat when tanking, and oom when DPSing - on top of that, yer supposed to have some healers for it).

In a regular 5man run, that'll do just fine though I personally don't like banking on things going *wrong*. I prefer them going right where it won't be needed to fly around doing tons of different things.

As to Feral vs Resto... Resto is far superior in Arenas. Ferals do well in BGs and 2v2, possibly 3v3 even. But they bring very little a Resto couldn't do as well.

Armory Cowazon, Tauren druid on Proudmoore. He is feral for 5v5.

But for the most part yes, no good druid is feral at the top.

i've been trying feral in arena, just cos i'm there to slowly eke out points for epxx, without respecing. fairly casual.

in 2v2, i just have to stay cat and DPS like mad, if we kill 1 person, then cyclone the other, heal up, and then dps them down.

in 3v3 i'm finding it much harder. it requires heals, it requires CC, poison/curse removal, running away in travel form.

as a druid, you want to do all of them at once, and you can't because you aren't doing any damage unless in cat, and can't do any of your other jobs unless in caster. so its conflicting of what to do, all the time.

if you're in a resto spec, you CC and heal (much better) without shifting. that makes it much easier, your job is less conflicted, you're not wanting to do 4 things at once, but only able to do 1.
