When I tried to upload my characters last night I got a window full of errors. I exited the program and restarted it this morning, sometimes the server hiccups. It said there was a new version available, I clicked to allow it to update itself. When I ran the program again I get this message:
12/6/2007 7:46:21 AM | ERROR : Your version of World of Warcraft (7561) is not supported , the expected version should be 6739
12/6/2007 7:46:22 AM | ERROR : The username or password seems to be incorrect
and am asked if I want to install a new version the 7561, I reinstalled / repaired several times and kept getting this message.
Did the new release somehow make it onto the live server? How can I upload my toons now?
just noticed the same, managed to get rid of the username error by re-entering my PW
also when opening the uploader it tries to install an update over and over unsuccessfully

I'm having the same issue where the Uploader says there is a new version and tries to install it over and over. I noticed it says the new version is 7561 but when the installer runs the version is 6739.

I just tried reentering my password, no luck. Still getting the incorrect version error.
How can I go back to the correct version?

gonna have to wait until it got corrected on the site, looks to me like somehow an older version of the uploader got put up as "new" version which we installed

Well, of course we'll wait to get it corrected.
What we're asking now is whether the developers are aware of this problem? Is there some site more 'official' than this where an acknowledgement of the problem could be found?

been having this same issue for a couple of days now. At first i thought it was my computer, but then i started having this same problem on a second PC as well.
A fast fix would be appreciated so that all the information in the saved variable text files do not start to slow down my systems - otherwise i'll just have to stop collecting data for you guys. :(

I wil have to check this. Dane should have updated the client. Can I suggest you test the new client. This does not suffer from this issue. Grab it here. You need to login to your wow digger account first. Also note this is Java so will also work on Mac and PC.

That worked for me. It'll keep me updated until the Windows client/uploader update is fixed. Which it is still not.

The windows client updater will become obselete. The new client has bug fixes and features more data. A new version of the new client will be released soon also.

That seems to have done the trick for me too. Thanks, I didn't realize how much I depended on WoWDigger for planning my wow sessions, until it was gone.
Thanks again.
it got broken on purpose so everyone switches to the java uploader  lol

That also seemed to work for me.
Unfortunately having said this, I cleared out the Uploader Porgram and the Addon that went with it.
Now the Addon that comes with the Java version has some bugs in it.
It does not like instancing at all. Just go to the DRT to see what I mean.
Also comes up with an error message on handing in quests. Cannot get screenie of the Error messages at the moment though.

Do we have to run the java client each time? or will there be something that runs in the background and uploads the data for us automatically?

this is exactly what keeps me from using the java client right now, i would rather have an uploader sit in the system tray all the time instead of having to open/close the client each time i want to upload

The Java client and/or updater are not, after all, working as they should. I first noticed that there are problems, as mentioned by others, when I saw that my character data was not updated on the website.

My characters are not getting updated either. My current main is still listed as a 67, he's about to ding 69 in a completely different zone than the quests listed and wearing almost a completly different set of gear. I'd guess the site is 5 or 6 days (at least) out of date.

I noticed that when attemping to upload, it was saying bad character data, or something like that. I deleted the wowdigger.lua in SavedVariables, logged on WoW, quit, then uploaded. No more bad data message, and my character is updated on the website. Alrighty, then!

I am not liking the java client or all of the new errors i am getting inside of the game. I hope that they keep support for the windows client and keep things as they were. As of right now i have disabled the addon and stopped collecting data for the database or my character profile. :(

Yep, remove the old client. The old client will give you errors and is actually inferior. The Java client is still in testing and if you use it you will get automatic updates when a new version is available. If you find any errors in-game with thenew client it is likely conflicting with another mod. Please let us know what you find and post it in these forums. it helps us iron out any bugs.

Is the "old" client the Windows executable? I uninstalled that early on in this journey. Is it still available?
I'd prefer to use it though, because the Java client is constantly repositioning itself amid the STV of my desktop icons.

So, I downloaded a new wowsetup***** from the main site, installed it and ran it. I get this message box error:
The operation timed out - URL:http://wowdigger.com/server/wowcharacterserver.php - SOAPAction:http://wowdigger.com/server/wowcharacterserver.php/wowcharacterdata.
Whew, that was a pain to type, wish it could've been copyable. (BTW, the above is one line, the vBulletin is parsing it into 2).
But, the text window of the client says:

I have now tried both the Java & Windows exe clients, neither are working. My characters haven't been updated in well over a week and we haven't received any feedback from wowdigger. If they were to ask us for more info, tell us they knew the problem and were working on it, or just tell us to uninstall all addons - like Blizzard; anything but this silence.
I loved wowdigger when it was working correctly, I could plan my evenings WoWing on my lunch break, figure out which alts could craft what items for other alts, etc, etc.
But, now --- I don't know, I'm about ready to give up on this whole thing.

Guys
You need to submit a bug report. Thelink is on the page. You can also add a thread in the boards here. Tell us what client you are using and paste the errors. Also let us knwo what other mods you have installed in case they are conflicting.
The old client is being phased out, it is buggy in places and also does not capture some of the data the new client does. The new client is improved in a few places and now also works cross platform (PC Mac etc).
The site is also about to have some major changes, hopefully next week.
This is what I would do.
1 .Remove the old client completlty, this includes the addon and any other dirs ised by the addon.
2. Install the new client http://www.wowdigger.com/uploader and start using it now.
3. Any problems, keep posting the errors in the boards,

I moved all the worldofwarprofiler.lua.* files out of the wtf\account\<my account>\ directory (saved them in case the bug exterminator wants to see). I noticed that the last written file was Dec 6, 2007, and that would be about the last time I had good info on the website.
However, now that I've got a supposedly clean slate, is the only thing that will be collecting data the WoWDigger addon in the \interface\addons\WoWDigger directory?
I'm going to start a WoW session now and jump on all my toons and see what happens.

You didn't say you did, but if you didn't I think you also need to delete the wowdigger.lua file in SavedVariables. Then log into WoW to create a new wowdigger.lua file. That is what was making the "Mod: Invalid character data" message. I had that error message a few times recently; deleting the wowdigger.lua and re-logging fixes it for me.
The new client/uploader seems to be working fairly well for me, with occasional glitches like above. Hopefully soon it will be 100%.

Well, between the time of posting the forum message and doing my testing, I got sidetracked killing troggs & ogres and all the other assorted menagerie of Azeroth & Outland and it was midnight before I had made the worlds safe enough for little Susie to sit on Great Father Winter's lap and by that time the wowdigger site itself seems to have went down.
But, I will delete the wowdigger.lua in \savedvariables and log back on before I go after the respawns tonight.
