best pvp class

hi which is the best for pvp? an warlock or an mage? and which build should i take?

a soul link/siphon life warlock is arguably one of the best class/spec combinations currently in the game, for small scale PvP. (1-3 people involved.)

(nothing like a hunter fearing a lock - I can't yet, but a friend has LW capped and it's /pure hilarity)

But yeah, OP, I'd generally say 1 on 1 or even 1 on 3 (sometimes lol) a lock can own hard. But there's also BT+ geared stunlock rogues - some can really hurt. And some frost mages are played so well you'd think they have heals lol.

between warlock and mage its really a BIG tossup....ive seen some arcane mages two or three shot just about everyone they have faced with huge crits...at least with low resil gear....once you start getting resil gear this drops a lot more, but warlocks are pretty nasty too...i know as a hunter doing pvp quite often i dislike siphon life/soul link warlocks quite a bit, as they are very hard to take down...usually have to get lucky with an intimidation/TBW/trinket/rapid fire to knock one down enough to make him panic and then become easy prey. mages on the other hand arent too much of an issue as long as i let them think im going to just LET them frost nova me...then pop TBW/trinket/intimidation and LOLLERSKATE my way to victory...

the real class i hate taking down is a pally...they seem to live forever even when they arent hitting that hard and just cant keep me close enough to hurt.

rogues deal lots of damage as well, but unless they get a jump on me, i dont mind them.

top classes in pvp id say

warlock/mage/hunter/rogue

any of the core DPS classes....nuff said

thats probably more true than not...my 19 mage doesnt hold a candle to my 19 hunter because im used to playing a hunter...with practice, the mage becomes more my cup of tea, but isnt anywhere near the same as the hunter for me...

Basically the bm hunter would not only have to out dps the lock.. which wont happen if the lock is even semi good. But the hunter would also have to have more life than the lock, which is unlikely, but then the bm hunter would have to have more life thn the lock if the lock uses his health stone.. which definitely wont happen, but then he has to not only out dps him but also out dps his healing which even reduced is next to impossible.

So how on earth bm hunters beat locks that are SL/SL is beyond my belief.... I know it happens i watch my bm brother pown locks all day... but he cant touch me and i dont see how on earth he touchs them..

Lock out dps hunters
Lock heals while out dpsing hunter
Lock can heal even more with health stone
Lock has 20% dmg going to his pet
Lock has 10% dmg reduced with VW out
Lock can Sac pet
Lock can insta summon sac again...
Oh and he can dethcoil you, dpsing youf or 3 seconds taht your not touching him, and he just dps'd more with the instant dc + healed himself for about 1k or more!

Just an avg lock that only has 10k health you'd have to do 13000 to begin with not including his healing, deathcoil, his 2 sacs, his health stone... and all of this before he dps's you down?

just an AVERAGE LOCK not an epic'd one......10K health + 2500 minimum health stone + 1000 dc + 2k sac + 2k sac your at like 18k dmg, plus 30% more since 10% reduced from vw out, 20% goes to vw.... Im not even including trinkets or health pots... wtf do you think a bm can beat a lock?

Would have to do over 30K dmg to kill my lock...... 1v1.

you obviously know how to play your class which is a key aspect of doing well as a pvper....

i said it takes some luck to take out a sl/sl lock...i have to pray for him making a mistake or two to do well...but if your wondering... aimed shot opener, intimidation when pet hits you, drop frost trap at your feet, TBW, aimed shot again, concussive shot, rapid fire, trinket, blast everything i have at you and pray i did enough damage to knock you out...

two crits from aimed shot = 6.5-8k damage, my next 4 shots, should do between 2.5k-4k damage depending on crits...and pet damage should hit for around 1k damage during that time. this is assuming everything goes my way...if i make a mistake or something takes a little longer than usual, or i dont get two crits when i need them, then it spells almost certain doom for me against a lock that knows what hes doing.

against one that doesnt, its still quite a challenge, and comes down to who gets lucky, and who doesnt.

locks are by far one of the hardest 1v1 groups to play against...pallys are annoying, and a 2v2 priest duo scares the crap outta me

i thought that until i saw a mage two shot my warrior buddy in arena with 10k health...scared the hell outta me. i think if all goes well for them, they are decent, but you gotta nail two huge crits to even have a chance.

But again my post was towards the guy that said until a bm hunter "Has his way with him"..... Possible to beat a lock of course, anything can beat anything, but no class in the game is going to have there way with a good lock!! Rogues do give us a run for our money, but no one just toys with us as this guy was acting like a bm hunter does.

i'd say thats hardly what dark was trying to aim at...he was saying how its funny to confuse the lock by using drums of panic...i know a lot of hunters and even droods dont expect me to use scare beast and watch either them or their pet run off during an arena, and it more or less changes the course of the arena game i play more to my favour.

i personally love when a lock tries to fear me...it shows that he wants an "easy way out" and then gets WTF pwned by me pretty quickly there after...i wait for his SL, hit intimidation and then pew pew pew during that brief amount of time where i run to him drop a frost trap for when intimidation breaks out, and then knock back a few steps, and all out slaughter fest on cool downs.

some locks tho are dangerous and scary...1v1 i HATE seeing a lock in decent gear because i know its going to be the hardest type of fight i face. during arena i dont mind them as much because my healer keeps my health up while i take care of sir lock...if he targets the healer...thats his fault, and hes toast in 10 seconds or so...if he targets me, its a little longer...20 seconds or so, but same result.

been slaughtered by a warlock/druid team...that was no fun. my team wasnt prepared for full s3 gear on a druid and almost a full s2 set on the lock, and we went down pretty darn quick.

a lock in great gear is as scary as a hunter in great gear...and personally im more afraid of a MM/surv hunter in amazing gear than a BM in great gear.

something about a 30% chance to crit and 12k health makes me die a little inside.

No one has suggested BOOMKIN LOL ok well they look the coolest in pvp might not be the best in pvp although they are good...but they look cool that is for sure...I might have to go make one just to be a giant chicken.

But I digress. While a SL/SL is pretty tough to take down as a warrior I love locks...Since I'm an undead warrior I have more ways to break fear effects then I care to talk about...then with a few sunders SL/SL locks go down...not without a fight but they go down.

I didn't say that it was a pwn fest or anything, as a class without a fear it's much fun watching a lock get feared by a hunter, that was my point. A lock getting feared by a hunter usually = messed up lock b/c it messes up your rotation, gives a hunters ability CDs more time and allows the hunter to continue to nail you from range while you do nothing but bump into an edge . . . or, if the lock has his trinket up - it could just be a bit of a bump on the road to tab-dot-win. But as a level headed player I know that NO class PWNS ALL and that NO class will always come out on top. There are waaaaay to many factors involved to make blanketed statements such as yours.

Now, in almost 2 years of playing I've come up against several Sl/Sl locks that were unbeatable without another person to lock out their school of magic while you dps them down. Again, like in your other post - that's great you play your lock so well, but not everyone does - you yourself make the confusing statements of ROFLMAO explain how you can beat a Sl/Sl lock!!!1!!one. . . . and then go on to say you watch your brother pwn them all day, but he can't pwn you . . . lol . . . great (I'm sure no one can lol). Say what you will, I generally don't have issues with locks - period (and just to restate my above sentence: there are times when a Sl/Sl lock needs two people to take down). You're also assuming that you've got all your CD's up and ready along with your minion. You're also very funny in how you assume that my statement means that Sl/Sl lock are so easy that a BM hunter can toy with them - they're the one class/spec that you have to be on the top of your game against - although they don't - as you just pointed out (it's easy mode for your class - well in general locks are easy mode pvp ) but for other's you need to be ready. Things change when you're just under 11k heath and have over 300+ resil.

Now, what I did say, is :

So I dunno wtf you're talking about. It IS pure hilarity to see a hunter fear a lock - as a class that spent much of it's growing stages on a pvp server being feared and feared by locks (until silencing shot was obtained) - it's an awesome sight. And I know Sl/Sl locks usually don't fear.
