How to bind an action to a key
I want to be able to bind an action / macro to ANY key I want on the keyboard, not only the function / numeral keys.
I looked this up online, and all I could find was how to create macros and how to bind various actions to the pre-set keys. The thread in this forum about controlling your character did not answer my question either.
I know how to get into the “Key Bindings” menu and change settings there.
I play an undead rogue, and I have --Will of the Forsaken-- and the pvp trinket (Insignia of the Horde). I want to bind WotF on the “-“ key and the Insignia on the “*” key (right side of the keyboard, num pad).
How do I do that?

There are various addons that allow you to bind keys directly to spells/abilities. If it is just trinkets you want to bind keys to then TrinketMenu is quite a good one to try. It will also allow you to track and manage all the trinkets in your bags. I know the action bar addon TrinityBars allows you to bind keys directly to spells in your spell book and I'm sure others do as well.
If you don't want to mess about with addons then the simplest way to do this is to drag the items/spells to an action bar then use the standard key bind menu to assign a key to the slot that you put it. I can't remember how they are called exactly but it will be like Action Bar 1 or 2 Bottom Left Action Bar with an entry for all the buttons found on it.

Yeah, I just have keys to actionbars and I drag something it. It works for every key as far as I know.

I have done that too, but that restricts me to the 1 - 0 number keys, and some function keys. All these are assigned to the various actions and attacks I have for my character.
What I am looking for is to assign actions to other keys, to any key actually. Can that be done?
Clavina, thank you for the addon idea, I will look into that.

Either a bar mod like trinity, bongos, bartender, etc will allow you to bind pretty much anything to any button. But, I also believe, as others have said - that you can just use the standards blizz key binding area and it doesn't just have to be number keys (you may have to unbind other things first - such as "O" for the social window etc (though I just use bongos or create a macro). FYI - all gear slots have a number associated with them so that you can assign or create a macro for whatever is needed.

Have you enabled the extra action bars in your interface (advanced) options? You can get an extra 4 bars to play with. Each button can be assigned any key on the keyboard. In the keybindings menu they are in the section called MultiActionBar Bindings and are called, Bottom Left Action Button 1-12, Bottom Right Action Button 1-12, Right Action Button 1-12 and Right ActionBar 2 Button 1-12

I have done that, still those extra bars require clicking, and in pvp mouse clicks waste a lot of time.
How would you guys bind an action (let's say, "will of the forsaken" found on the "P" panel) to the key "*" on the num pad? Step by step please. If I see that i will understand.
Thanks

No, as I was trying to explain each one of those buttons can be bound to a key meaning that you don't have to click the icon with the mouse. Press 'escape' click on the 'key bindings' option then scroll down the list until you find the entries I mentioned in the previous post.
Binding keys directly to abilities in your spell book is not possible without an addon (of which several have been mentioned).

I would have to look to be exact but (iirc) just:
place WOTF on a bar
find that bar and the button position in the key binding area of the options within the game (scroll down the list till you find the correct bar as mentioned above) then just click the button that corresponds to the button you put WOTF on (says something like "bind") and press the "*" key (on the numberpad) - it is now bound to that *. But again it's been a while for me as I just use bongos so I have no hassles with key-binding and can change them more quickly that way. I also seem to remember having issues binding certain keys which is why I got a bar mod a long time ago and haven't looked back.
