How much updating?

Got this game coming in the post tommorow, Just wondering, once its installed, does the game have an automatic updater? How much is there to download (mb/gb), might need to be left overnight if its too much as my download speeds arnt great.

Yes, it has an automatic updater. Updates don't happen too often. It's several months between large updates, usually, and smaller ones are anywhere between every 2 weeks and 2 months.

The initial download/update will be a horrible pain though, especially if you didn't also get the expansion (the expansion includes the pre-2.0 updates, so you're only updating from 2.0 to 2.2.3 instead of from 1.0).

If you wanted to do it manuelly, do you need to download every single one? Or can you just download the latest?

You would need to do them all. Blizz offers direct downloads if the loader is slow or doesn't work as does filefront (Blizz even points you there as a mirror site). But yeah, if you didn't get the expansion along with vanilla WoW you'll have hours of updates.

I think my initial install was about 7 hours. Then I bought TBC right after patch 2.3 came out, so I had to go through that all over again, which was a few hours again.

Don't plan on playing it the first day it comes. Rent a couple movies...maybe 3. :grin:

The last Master Patch will do, followed by the subsequent follow-ups.
What's a Master Patch?

If, WoW with the TBC expansion installed is v 2.0.1
Then the next Master Patch would be v 2.1.0 and the next one after that 2.2.0 etc. You get the idea. We're currently at v.2.3.0.7561

Install WoW Classic
Install WoW TBC (if you have it), else download and install the 1.0->2.0 patch
Download and install 2.3-patch
done
