Find the boat to menethil, from teldrassil.
Get the flightpath in menethil harbor
Take the road out of menethil all the way to loch modan (there's one fork to the left, don't take it.) Get the flight path at loch modan. At loch modan, hang a right and keep going until you end up at ironforge.
In ironforge find the deeprun tram (ask a guard)
Get off the tram in stormwind.
Walk out the front gate down: voila', elwynn forest
Less fun alternative: Find a level 40 plus mage and ask them very politely if you provide the "rune of portals" if they would port you to your friend in stormwind.

Not to "start" there, but you can get there at a pretty low level.
First decide if you want to go there or if he wants to come to where you are.
To get there, you can find a generous mage in Darnassus and ask for a portal to StormWind, or ask him to find a generous warlock in SW who will summon you.
Your other choice is to travel by foot. There are directions in this forum, but the basic route is:
From Darnassus, go to Ruther'an <sp> Village and fly to Auberdine/Darkshore.
From Auberdine, take the boat to Menethil Harbor. (as you go down the dock from the town, it is the boat on the left)
Once in Menethil, you follow the road out of town to the west (through the Wetlands) and then it turns south. You have to go through several tunnels and past some mobs that may kill you once or twice. Eventually you get to Thelsamar in Loch Modan.
From there, keep following the road south until you get to the South Gate pass. The road will turn east thru a tunnel and eventually to IronForge.
From IF, you can take the tram to StormWind and then walk out into Elwynn.
All of those towns (Ruther'an, Auberdine, Menethil, Thelsamar, IronForge and StormWind...have flight paths. Be sure and get them as you pass through.)
Now with all that...it might be more fun for your brother to meet you in Auberdine. The quests in Darkshore are more fun (for a change) and less crowded. Also....it's a choice of questing in the woods (Darkshore) or open areas and farmland (Elwynn)

You can try, but you'll be drawing monsters left and right, because you're way too low a level. At this point, it would be easier for your brother to come to you. Gives you some time to get to.. maybe level 5 or so.

You can always ask a stranger if they're feeling generous enough to escort you. I have done that a couple times, just to be nice. One time the guy logged back in with his high level toon, and gave me 1gold. I was only lvl 23 or something, on my first toon, so that was a pretty big deal to me.

There is a better way for you to travel that will be much less hassle. Put everything in the bank in Teldrassil and follow the above directions to Menethil Harbor. THEN - instead of making the long hike and probably dying repeatedly just start swimming South - you will have to go West a bit first. You will need to stay away from the shore and the Murlocs till you leave the harbor, after that stick to the shore line and look for you location to change to "Dun Morogh". As soon as the location changes go underwater and drown yourself. release your spirit and you will appear at the spirit healer just outside Ironforge. Rez and run up the hill to Ironforge, take the tram to SW, and run out the gate to Goldshire in the Elwynn forest :)
Much faster and no damage to any gear - no aggravation.

Run to Elwynn is my advice, Ironforge is the allies capital and where most players hang out. You`ll also be ready to hit the first instance when you are 23 (Deadmines). If you go to Darnassus there will be noone playing except you and your brother.
So do the run explained above, when you die run to corpse, res as much further as you can and continue. Mobs might be annoying but it will be done in 30 minutes so no big deal.
Edit: Remember to get the flightpaths on the way.

My tip: the best thing to do when traveling TO the west lands from Loch Modan, or vice versa, is to stick to the road and keep running :) That's how I've made it through!
Goodluck!

Yeah that's how I did it on my first toon also - then I learned the trick I posted above and it is SO much easier - PLUS it makes it easy for much lower levels. You can actually make this run at lvl 1 with no problems. Trying using the road at level 1 - you will agro so many mobs in the wetlands you may NEVER make it through.

It is pretty amazing how far you will aggro mobs when they are many levels above your own. I must admit I learned that lesson the hard way. And I learned it repeatedly...doh!
The swimming method works in a number of different areas in the world. Just keep you eyes peeled for the occasional swimming mob, and hope there's a clear space on the shore for you to run to.

Last night I was questing one of my alts in Wetlands and I needed to collect crocolisk skins. The only problem, there were no crocs to be seen. Then I was thinking..."If only there was a level 1 toon trying to make the journey to IF. They would make perfect croc bait and draw those critters up from the deepest recesses of the swamp."

Try further north by the little house - engineering trainer or something. There's a nice spawn spot.
