ive just started playing today, and ive already made 3 different characters because i just cant find something i like, or i keep thinking ive chose a crap underpopulated realm and stuff like that.
What race/class is the most begginer friendly, (have not got expansion)
Whats the most active English speaking EU realm,
Is it normal for the begginer areas to be extremely empty and only seeing 1 person in 20 minutes of play?
Anyone got any general advice?
Thanks to any replies :)

Races: Sadly, the Draenei starting area is probably the best starting area going, with the blood elf starting area being second. Other than that, I liked the Tauren starting area the least.
I can't speak for the EU realms, since I'm on the US servers.
1 person in 20 minutes might happen during severely-off-peak hours, but is uncommon other than that. What's the population rating of that server? I tend to avoid both High and Low population servers, and usually don't have a problem.

I have never seen it that slow in a starting area, unless it's the middle of the night or something. Any race you pick should have a decent number of new toons.
But, it really doesn't matter if it does or not, since you don't need to team up with anyone for awhile.
As far as picking one toon and sticking with it, you really don't get a good idea of what a toon can do for awhile. On a druid, for instance, it doesn't get fun til lvl 20. So try sticking with one for a week or so, see how far you get, and if you like it. Don't quit by lvl 8 because it's not working for you.

Yes, level 20 is indeed a good level to decide whether you want to continue with it. Most classes get some really good stuff from their trainers by then, and suddenly you feel überpowerful. I know I did with my Warlock.

Your best bet though I don't know your previous MMO abilities is a hunter. They tend to be easiest played because a lot of what you do is based off of a pet who does damage and takes damage for you. As far as races go, if you choose hunter, horde i recommend orc or troll and ally i recommend dwarf or night elf.
You best bet like everyone else said is take one up to 20 and see how you like it. If you don't try again, blizz just reworked lvling so you shouldn't have a problem. You can also troll the forums a bit and look at the different guides and abilities of different classes. The noobie guildes help a lot and class specific will let you get a feel for the class without actually getting down and dirty.

Hunter's get pets at level 10 and if you choose Alliance and don't have the expansion, night elf and dwarf are the only two choices available. It is quite a bit easier to get to the main human city of Stormwind (not to mention the dwarven city of Ironforge) as a dwarf than an elf.
Truly, all classes are pretty beginner friendly, but as mentioned...the best way to find what you like playing is to simply try out different classes for yourself.
Also, my own personal experience was that the Tauren (Horde) starting area had the least amount of new character's playing, regardless of the time of day. That was just my experience on two servers though, so obviously others might be different. At any rate, that should not dissuade you as you can level up pretty quickly in all the starter areas and travel someplace more populated.

Try a human - you will find Stormwind VERY populated if you want to see other players on.

well with my exp which is mainly horde(on my realm) the orc starting area is pretty lonely same with the troll starting area but undead/tauren starting areas have alot of beginners and toons but thats on ym realm you should just try out every class/race to see your own fit

I can't help with the EU server, but my advice (if you're looking for a populated one) is to pick a HIGH populated server.
As for easiest class to start with- hunter. Hunter's are easy to level to 10, and once you get your pet you'll find you're unstoppable.
For Ally, to be a hunter you can either be a Night Elf or a dwarf. I would say in terms of population and access to large numbers of people, the dwarf starting area is better.
For Horde, orcs and taurens can be hunters (and possibly trolls- I'm not up on the horde side). In terms of starting areas, well orcs and trolls start out in the same place, so that's most likely going to be more populated.
My other piece of advice is play all characters until level 20. It's a bit of a time investment, buy you'll know what you like!
Good luck!

Or do like me, and create 10 toons featuring all classes and all races. :azn:
No wait, I don't have any orcs. Never took my fancy, those..

I always recommend new people read this (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/#gettingstarted) entire page and the linked subsections over a day or so, and just familiarize yourself with the various bits of information offered.
Welcome to WoW.

Agreeing with what everyone has been saying.
Look over the guides and the official site, pick out a couple (about 2, 3 or 4) Race/class combos that you find appealing, make characters of all those, play them all to about 20 to 25 and see which one you like the best and continue on with that one.

You've been reading the thread about the nut sacks right before you came here, haven't you? Taking your dirty images from your head and spreading them all over the other, decent threads. Tisk tisk.

my best suggestion would be to try each class to lvl 20...it will take the least amount of time in all honesty, and you might find EXACTLY what you like before you get there...
just saying GO WITH HUNTER ITS EASIEST isnt entirely true. sure it is one of the more forgiving classes because of the pet, but i feel a lock until 20 feels almost the exact same. a priest to me was super easy and i didnt think i had my first death until almost lvl 40 with her...warrior i always felt was a hard class to grasp for me because it doesnt fit my play style, so i avoided it...
if you try them all, find the one you suck the LEAST with, and use that.
hunters may be easy, but it doesnt mean you play it to the best of your abilities...
as far as starting areas go, and the learning curve, the two new areas have the most progressively user friendly experience, with humans and troll/orc following in as second...the undead/tauren/night elf areas are just odd, one because the undead and night elf are so far away from the "major" cities of ironforge/stormwind/org... taurens have the worst starting area in the game and honestly the only one where i'm still lvl 5 leaving it...killing everything along the way to each quest, you will most likely hit lvl 6 with them, and lvl 7 with every other race.
choosing a server is easy...if you want high population pick either FULL or HIGH population servers...that solves it.
piscene has seen lots of people in starting areas because of the server we are on being a full server...
on EU i do believe frostwolf for PvP and Doomhammer for PvE are two populated servers with even distribution between horde and alliance
and welcome to the game

The other problem with hunters (or warlocks) is that they might spoil you for other classes later on. My first toon was a warrior, perhaps the slowest levelling class there is. Not knowing this at the time, I had a blast with him on my way to 70. Had I played a hunter first I don't think I would have had the patience to last past level 10 with a warrior, and thus would have missed out on some of the fun.

I have all classes represented in my toons, and I must say that my Hunter isn't really high on my favourite list. Sure, it's great to be able to tackle higher mobs than you can with a 'lone' character, or more mobs at once.. but in a way it feels like the pet takes away some of my play. That, and the various attacks I have are not really exciting - not to mention on quite a cooldown, so that I end up jumping into melee. On the other hand, I love playing a Warlock even though a pet and a Voidwalker have many similarities. I suppose the array of spells I have makes the difference here.
Last night my boyfriend rolled his first horde toon. After some deliberation and advice from me he settled for a Tauren Druid, and I think that's the best choice for him as that's a class that can go every way. You can make it a healer, you can make it a tank, you can make it a caster. And whichever way you go, you'll always have a bit of everything. If you find it difficult to make a choice, then this all-in package might be something worth considering. :)
