Hello peoples, I've been been playing WoW for almost 30 days now (the bill is soon due, lol) and I have a very newbie question. Where do you go for apprentice fishing training? I can only find journeyman trainers. I went to the one in Elwyn forest because he is so low lvl thinking this would be IT and nope, journeyman. I am a lvl 27 gnome mage and getting into the fish needs of alchemy now and I am probably due for a loooooooong fishing grind to get the ones I need, but first I have begin!
Thank you for any help you can give me.

Welcome to the forums teacake. I will try to be a bit more helpful than just telling you (without even using a complete sentence ) to "go look it up".
I thought that all trainers could teach you at their level AND below, so the Journeyman Trainer in Elwyn should also be able to train you Apprentice. Is it possible you already have it and just forgot? You can check this by either looking at your Skills list or at the trainer, check the little box in the upper right of the training window where it says "show already learned".
There are also trainers in StormWind (I believe he is on a dock in the Canal District) and in IronForge (in Forlorn Cavern...the underground lake). The local guards can direct you to these trainers and they should be able to teach you apprentice skill.
Good luck and I hope that helps some.

Fishing is a really valuable skill. It quite naturally connects with Cooking, another valuable skill. A good fisher/cook can make food for himself, his pet, any alts you may create, or to sell on the AH or to a vendor. Cooking enhances the value of the fish in terms of health points available. Some of the fish needed for Alchemy are quite easily caught. There is a worthwhile quest on the beach next to the Auberdine Inn where someone named Gubber Blump will get you to catch six Groupers and then give you a special pole with slightly enhanced ability to catch fish.
There's a 'Find Fish' skill that can be found in Watertight Trunks, for which you fish. Find Fish shows schools of fish or unusual fish in the body of water you are near. I found mine in Windshear Crag in the Stonetalon Mountains by the Venture Co. Logging thing. You have to fish the Oil Slicks and Floating Wreckage to find this thing. Took me about ten tries to find one, but my husband got his after one cast. And at your level you could go there and fish for it with no problem.

You're right! I already had it. It seems I simply can't figure out how to fish. I have the pole and I can equip it to me.. I have the bauble.. what to do with that I don't know. urgh.. I'm at the canals in SW and I am missing something very obvious.
And yes I did look up fishing in every possible site before posting my original post.. but I will look again. Thanks for answering!
Okay I found what I needed!!

And I finally caught a fish. Thanks folks, I will probably be back here with another question at some point.

Hard to start in SW - go out to the lake in Goldshire till you are at least skill lvl 25 and you will do a lot better in the canals of SW.

Went on a fishing binge at Goldshire, bit of SW, Loch Moden (needed some herbs there) and then back to the Wetlands for some prime alchemy fishies. Got to 150 which means I now have an excuse to get my character down to Booty Bay which I've been wanting to do for a while.

You may want to buy some lures then - Booty Bay at 150 is quite difficult.

You may find the journey on foot to Booty Bay a bit difficult. I've seen it suggested that the safest way to go is to swim up the coast from Westfall, far enough out in the water that mobs ashore won't bother you, but not so far out that some of the fiercer sea creatures will either. I can't vouch for this, haven't done it myself, but I've seen it suggested often enough to believe that it's a valid way to go.

Then you’ll need a water walking.

I was curious myself and thought that I ought not to be suggesting things that couldn't work. But you know, it does...... and I didn't have a character that could walk on water, either. I had a lvl 35 Night Elf Hunter minus his pet. And he did it - without much by way of problems at all. A couple of times things came at him from the shore side, but he evaded them and kept on going. Hardest part was remembering where that ramp is in BB so he could climb up it.

I think the OP meant he had to go to BB to get the fishing book, to train past 150.

I am looking fwd to the BB challenge. I got my lvl 3 Blood Elf down there, I know that is easier, but I'm sure through the right combination of skulking and strategic death I will get my Gnome mage to BB to buy the fishing book. I've also read the swimming suggestions.. perhaps the underwater breathing potion would be a good idea as you see any upcoming herds of threshers or whatever.
