Im a lvl 12 blood elf hunter and I just talked my buddy into playing. We are first time players. However he wants to be a alliance warrior so he made one but he started in dutuar (sp) Im in the eversong woods. How can we meet up to help each other in quests. we made sure we are on the same server and realm. Is this even possible without making a new character.

Can i run to dutuar(sp) and just start there with him. If so i cant find it on the map around silermoon city

Thanks all

run to the bloodelfs big city, teleport to just outside the undead big city. go outside the walls of the city to a tower in frount where you'll see a blimp come and go. get on the blimp. then get off the blimp after the load screen at the other tower and your in his zone. run to the road out side the orc city there, but go the other way and you'll be headed right at him.

Is he an orc or a troll? Alliance would be the other faction but Orcs and Trolls start in durotar.

The directions given are exactly right to get to Durotar, I just wondered if maybe he made an alliance toon by mistake?

PS - the teleporter is in silvermoon in the Sanctum of the Sun I think - North east corner of the map - Hit M to show the full city map.

When you get to Undercity you head into the courtyard and turn left to go to the blimp or right to go into the city (take the elevators behind the throne room down) Get the flight point while you are there then take the elevators back up (they have big blue-ish rotting ogre like guards at the elevators so you can find them easier) Run through the courtyard and out of the city walls and you will see the main road and the zeplin tower across the street.

Take the stairs up to the 1st platform and wait for the Orgrimar boat.

When you get off the boat take the ramp down and go straight out of the tower till you hit the main road. Left will take you to your friend and right will go into the city. In the city there is a tower like the zeplin tower in the middle of the main area. if you take the stairs (ramp) up you can get that flight path too.

you need to learn to navigate around the world anyway, why not do it now ?

invite him into a party, seek him on the world map, open a internet page where the zeppelin routes are marked, travel, meet up.

If he made an Alliance warrior, he just cannot be starting in Durotar and if he made an Alliance warrior you cannot communicate with him in game if you are a Bloodelf.

At lv 12 it might indeed be less hassle to create a character of the same race and start together....

Apart from that, the newcomer forum has many tips on navigating and all.

Sounds like the army...

"Join the army... travel around the world... meet interesting people... AND KILL THEM!"

Anyway, as I think half the people above missed, yet some pointed out..

You started on Horde side. He started on Alliance side.
You can not quest together. You can not group up. You can not even talk or whisper to each other.
One of the two of you will need to join the other.

ok so I told my buddy to make a horde warrior. He did and he chose a horde/troll/warrior. He started in dutoar and im a blood elf hunter. I followed all the directions and I finally made it to dutoar. (woot) Will I be able to pick up and start getting quest to assist him.(i ran around for just a sec looking for the apple quest and such) This very frustrating as all my friends want to play and we each want to be different type of character but can't get together to play!!. They make a paladin and boom he is 5 worlds over and we can help each other. We dont all want to be trolls/orcs.....

Do we all (if same faction obv) meet up later in the game somewhere to do other quest? I hear of the barrons alot will all horde types meet there at somepoint to contiue questing..

Thanks for any help or suggestions..

if you all level to 12 (should only take a few hours) you can meet in the crossroads which is in the center of the barrens... pick up all the quests there and progress that way...trying to do the previous quests will pose difficult, as if you go to each others zones, you wont be able to see the quests that their quest givers have and you wont be able to pick up some of the quests that are race specific.

First - if you group up (click on friend - when his toon's portrait is next to yours right click on his portrait and click on "invite"), he can share whatever quests he already has (except for racial specific, etc.) and then you can help him out. To be honest, you don't have to have the quest to help him out. Group up and just go do whatever needs to be done.

It can be very frustrating since all characters do not start in the same area. But at the same time.... there's nothing wrong with traveling around and getting your flight paths early and learning your way around. It's some time spent traveling but that's it. And once you are all in the same place, when you log back in for the next session of game play, assuming no one else logged in and left the area, from then on you'll all be in the same place and won't have to do that anymore.

There's no specific "meeting up" in the game... you either make the effort to meet up or you just run into each other. <shrug> The contested areas, or zones outside of starter areas where quests can be gotten and completed by either faction (such as the Barrens) aren't usually visited by toons until after level 18-20 (usually - there are always exceptions as people play their toons any way they choose and don't always stick to the quests) so if you are counting on that to make it easier to meet up, you won't be able to do those right away. Quests are level specific - meaning you can't get them until you're level appropriate - in fact, you don't even know there are quests if you are too low-level (or high-level) to qualify for them - the exclamation point won't show up for you. So... running to the Barrens before you are level 18 or so would be a complete waste of time - at least questwise. You could always just meet up and kill things whether it is fulfilling a quest or not.

Good luck. :)

As long as you are all horde it is no problem. You just need to all be around 5 or 6 to get the quests in the second zones.

So you can do the quests in Sen'jin village if you stay in orc/troll areas, Falcon wing square in the blood elf lands or Bloodhoof village in tauren lands. (if you have trolls in your party they may miss a quest or 2 in blood elf lands since some NPC's hate trolls with a fiery passion that burns)

I would say all meet up in Sen'jin or Razor Hill - Durotar - and quest the beginner quests there then follow the quest chains to The Barrens naturally. As you finish each zone you will receive one or two quests pointing you to the next area. This creates a nice path to follow. The barrens is level 10 and up if there are 2 or more of you and there are tons of quests there.

Funny - when I rolled a horde toon I was sent to the Barrens at about lvl 12 and had dozens of quests waiting there for me.
