I've been watching the golbin/gnome races and the main host constantly says "Have fun, but remember, don't blow all you rmoney In the same place!". Does he mean that I can bet on the outcome with someone or am I just out of luck?

Thanks

As far as I know, there is no way to bet. I think it just adds ambiance.

you could always get some friends and bet, or race yourself.

i dont know though if always the same npc racer wins. would take the fun out of it.

as long as you dont get reported, who cares ? i wouldnt gamble with strangers, but we have our little games in our guild quite regulary.

heck, when we are bored in waiting periods during raids, we /roll for gold...

Lol, i remember playing with dice and pennies when i was really young with school friends. Never thought to adapt it to WoW.

Dang... I know at least 10 guilds that will have several players banned then for helping run guild lottos... lol...

I /roll for gold in raids sometimes as well. But this is the newcomer section and I wouldn't want to see someone get banned for something they didn't know about.

Guild games? Ooh, now I'm getting curious. Could anyone post/PM with some examples?

this realy depends on the guild you are in. i'd be very disapointed in my raid members if they would report me over some trivial thing like rolling for gold. Sure, these things happen, but i hope not very often :)

No, AH is investing. Just like Wall Street vs. going to the racetrack. Sometimes your investments don't work out, but it still isn't gambling because there is a commodity with a value involved.

Game example: Naked lvl 1 Gnome racing... guildies make a lvl 1 gnome... sell/destroy all items... Ported to a starter area (depends... on where u want to run to/from) then run like hell to the end area... first one there wins! we liked IF to STV... winner usualy gets a good amount of gold (small entry fee all pooled then given to the winner) and as far as i know this isnt a violation of the ToS

Naked LvL 1 Gnome Racing aso known as Super Fantastic Naked Gnome Race of DOOM!(TM)

Have fun :P

I LOVE Gnaked Gnome races  Used to stage this when I was guild leader in EQ. Had first, second, and third prizes from the entry fees PLUS a nice item for the first place winner out of our guild bank. We would typically have 30-50 lvl 1 gnomes racing from one end of the game world to the other - starting from the Gnome noobie area taking the boat from Butcherblock to Qeynos and then running the route of your choice to the other human city which I can't think of the name for (but other end of the world at any rate). There were several routes you could choose but the shorter routes were definitely the more dangerous and while one death wouldn't take you out of the competition it could seriously set you back.

Guild officers would monitor the location of all entrants so that no one could cheat by getting a port and then we would have officers at key locations along the the route (such as the qeynos docks).

Definitely a good time and you were rewarded for participating.

Oh yes, I've seen a few clips of those races for a costume recently, and I found it hilarious.. but I had been wondering how you could determine who the winner is. I mean, that was a crapload of gnomes all bolting up the tower in Sentinel Hill - with such a close call how can you tell?

Gambling inside World Of Warcraft. Like I'm not addicted to the game enough already...

I know in our guild we do lotto's. The officers donate prizes (really anyone can donate prizes but it's usually the officers since they are of the highest levels, profession levels, and have the most "extra $") and we all pick numbers. We have done it where we pick new numbers for every draw, but that way is very confusing, so we now draw 1 number for the entire session. The officer in charge of the lotto for the evening then /rolls for each item and the person closest to the number rolled wins. We've had prizes like holiday items, imbued netherweave bags, gold, jewelry items, stuff like that. Things that are either of general use or are nice enough to sell at AH to make something from it. All in all I think the guildies rather enjoy it and it's something to do.

Actually before the game came out they were gonna have gambling in the race course, but they scrapped it.
