All weekend I have been playing my mage. But I have a big problem and not sure if its wow or my system.

I cast a fireball at a mob, it stands where it is but while casting next spell its hitting me. BUT its still 30 yds away on my screen...and when it dies I can't loot it...I must get closer even when loot icon turns gold its the same thing.

is this something on my system or wow game?

Thats a bug I sometimes get and I am not sure what causes it. When I get it I just move up to the mob so when it dies I can still loot it.

It seems to be mob specific. I was on my spriest alt killing in HFP and all of the mobs were fine... except for one that did this. It actually ended up on t he other side of me so I had to turn around and cast, even though that seeming faced me away from the mob.

If this happens a lot I'd look at your latency and other network issues.

Are you playing on a private server? If no then it shouldn’t be for a long time - server bug.

That sometimes happens to me. Some sort of latency between where the mob actually is and where my client thinks it is. If you can't loot the corpse, try logging out and logging back in again, you'll then find the corpse lying where it's actually supposed to be and then you can loot it.

Yah, I get this once in a while. But usually right when the mob dies, it slides along the ground really fast to where it should actually be.

I get it too. It also seems that certain mobs are more susceptible too it. (It also seems like you will get a group of them in an area.) As Leviathonlx said, when you see it happen, run up to where you see the mob on your screen. You may need to turn your character to have the computer think that the mob is in front of you. (No matter what it looks like on your screen.) If you do that, you should be able to loot.

Oh, been there, done that - didn't get the t-shirt though, because I couldn't loot.

It can vary from mobs sliding across the floor to their correct spot, to them remaining bugged in their death so that I can't loot them ever (must try the logging out tip, thanks for that), to mobs actually dropping dead inside a tree or rock. Try looting one of those.

Leave the immediate area and come back. If you get far enough away the computer has to redraw the corpse and will do it in the correct location.

If you get a mob hitting you while he is not close, pretend he is running after you, and run till he would evade back. Then the hitting also stops.

On my rogue I just vanished though.

Theres this one particular Dimetrodon in Un'Goro. She's in a tree on the outskirts of the crater and will attack you once then switches to evade but just turns in circles growling. She's always there and ive grown quite attached to her ;)

Had that problem on my huntress where my pet would melee a mob 10 yards from it, then zoom in shortly before death. Usually I couldn't loot them. Haven't had that for some time now. (though I think there is a particular annoying invisible mob in Terrokkar bone wastes that follows you almost to the Horde outpost before finally letting go)

Still have some evading mobs (not least the ever annoying Giant Kaliri in Skettis), but I think that is another issue.

You can debug them if you are a pet class. Call your pet back and the mob will suddenly zoom to your pet and start chasing it. Then you can re-attack and it will be fine.

If you are a melee class I think running to the spot you see them on the screen (as noted above) will help. Mages can probably blink towards the mob on screen and when it starts hitting again frost nova. (this is a guess not a tried method)

I hate those mobs.
